High speed metal sounds great. I don't have any in the home shop unfortunately, but I did invest in a tormek sharpener a while back the sound of the thousand grit wheel putting on an edge is music to my ears. An air impact will probably be forever ingrained as the sound of "work" for me.Anyone in here ever heard a cnc mill cutting aluminum at high speeds?
Oh, but not the dulcet tones of a reciprocating saw going through unsupported sheet metal vertically?im partial to the sound a circular saw makes when you just cut through a board and the blade has that vibrating bell sound to it.
not a fan of that one. a bit too harsh for my tastes.Oh, but not the dulcet tones of a reciprocating saw going through unsupported sheet metal vertically?
Ya but I like this new focus on the sounds of tools betterI always liked the sound a handsaw makes when cutting pine wood.
edit: oh you meant for your weiner hole
Aluminum is soft so you can basically max out the spindle, say like 20,000 rpm on your end mill, and the aluminum doesn’t do any sort of shrieking noises.. it’s like what you’re hearing is a million muted snaps of chips coming off the work piece and it ends up sound like an electrical zap kind of thing.High speed metal sounds great. That guy was brave enough to slap that thing. Doesn’t seem like his first time either.
