I like cryptids. I don't believe they are real unless its something that obviously could be a biological creature like giant squid, but they are fascinating for what they say about the human imagination, local experience with nature, and the attempt to have mascots and natural re-enchantments of the world. The Jersey Devil, Mothman, Dogmen, etc.
Another thing I really like is the weird monsters in First Edition DnD and the modern OSR movement. Theres something about the black and white heavy etching art style of 70s aspic-quaffing coke-fueled boomers that I really love.
Weird enemies from boomer shooter games, both old and new, are also a great list of strange creatures. Theres something so free and also trying to be maximum cool about those types of enemies.
When it comes to real world creatures, well, I spent some time in Alaska before and really came to live ravens. I eat up anything with a raven motif.
