Anywho,i love corvids. crows are such an underrated group of birds. Shame no one seems to like them due to superstitious bullshit surrounding demons or bad luck. When really all they want is some peanuts.

All i can say with the blue jay is, WHERE'S THE FUCKING RACCOON!?

They're very territorial year-round and will attack animals much larger than them, including humans, who get too close. I've had a couple of nests pop up on routes that I walked my dog and both of us were dived bombed until we walked out of range, haha.

If you go to that wiki page then you'll quickly see why they're so unholy. They're predatory birds that impale even other birds on spikes in order to pick and eat at them. Their nickname is "butcherbird".

I'm not even from Maryland and I still love seeing these little guys and their nests as an experienced birder myself.

Second favorite is the shrike because they're little badasses who think they're Vlad, and favorite song that I've heard personally definitely goes to the hermit thrush.

As for extinct ones, I would not mind seeing the carolina parakeet be brought back one bit. Any other birder nerds here?

I don't think I'd qualify, but I do like biology and have some bird knowledge. You'd probably get a kick out of this video:

More of a raptor guy if im to be honest, but there is this one bird id like to mention. Its called the White Fairy Tern. Its the official bird of Honoluly Hawaii. You can see them occasionally nesting in the branches of the trees out there. They look very ethereal and out of place. Almost supernatural, even. They lay a single egg and as far as I know dont really build a nest, they just lay their single egg on a branch and kinda hope for the best. The eggs are slightly sticky to help keep them in place. Theyre seabirds, so their diet is mostly fish.
