Goblin

-Sneaky little shit
-Speaks in a high voice
-Little and weak but quick and tricksy
-Probably good with technology
-Orcs look down on them

Orc

-Violent and warlike
-Probably dumb and brutish
-Makes for good grunts in an army, strong and hardy
-Probably speaks like a caveman
-Looks down on goblins, treats them as slaves, but can also kick their ass so it's okay

Depends on the setting, but if we're going by LotR it's mostly just a size difference.
Going to sperg here. In the books there was actually no difference between goblins and orcs. "Goblin" the name Hobbits gave to Orcs. Goblins were about the size of a hobbit or just a bit bigger, whereas Uruk Hai on the other hand were the size of a Man and bred for war. The movies gave the distinction between Goblins and Orcs and the Uruk Hai were even larger still.

In the Tolkien legendarium that’s a heavily debated issue, but the reason for that is to try to force consistency.

The plain truth of the matter is that some time between The Hobbit and Fellowship, he just merged them.

It’s not the only example.. when he wrote “The Fall of Gondolin” as a short story, he continually called characters later known to be elves “gnomes.”

The real question is what is the difference between orc metal and goblin metal. Yes, these are legitimate subgenres of death metal.
