I can tell when someone is being flirtatious before a guy even realizes he's being flirtations. First, they go out of their way to say hello or greet you by name. And it kind of devolves from their. Men who I view as brothers, you can usually talk them or joke around with them about dumb stuff without them changing inflection in voice and stuff like that.
After men greet you, they move on to just being silly and making eye contact within the realm of plausible deniability. Since last fall, this doctor and paramedic were flirting with me like hardcore, which devolved into playful teasing and eye contact, staring, winking, and compliments. I don't know why men act like 5 year olds around women they like. I'm very demure and feminine, and I've noticed men do this right before they ask me out, but some seem to scared to do so. Anyway, flirting is just testing the waters and expressing that you fancy someone without the fear of rejection.

Flirting is when you say "Ay girl you remind me of an appendix cause I'd sure like to take you out" then you point at them and wink.
I was in the woods with a girl and bored, until she said "want to see where I got my appendix removed?"

I tried to agree coolly while being enthusiastic. She took me by the hand and brought me to the edge of the forest and pointed at the hospital that we could see from there.

She wasn't flirting.

Yes, but 98% of the time, it signals attraction. I'm sure you wouldn't flirt with Hamburgerlynn, Chantal, or Chris.
