I remember pirating by torrenting being just going into torrentz or pirate bay and clicking on what comes first that looks legit. But lately, every time I try to find a film there are barely no matches, tons of sites are shades of their formers selves, every click opens waves of spam and it just tries to give me capeshit rather whatever I'm asking.

Bigger sites got shut down and zoomers don't know how to use computers. There are still good private trackers but that takes an invite. 1337x is pretty good for public torrents in my experience but its not quite the same as back in the day.

The internet is dying and becoming utterly useless for everything, since everything you know of it has actually all been the result of a tech bubble that began developing around the mid 2000s coinciding with the proliferation of high speed internet.

It's all about direct-download sharing sites now. Obviously the good ones are members-only and very exclusive, but a few Russian-language ones are still openly accessible. IRC is also an option, but most people are too retarded to learn the (very basic) commands needed to download using XDCC channels. If I had to pirate something, a torrent would be my last resort, and RARBG is the only site I'd use.

Most things got movied to streaming sites. If I can't find a torrent, usually googling "moviename 123movies" will bring up a streaming site with it on. Remember to use your ad blocker or be met with severe visual aids.

alt.binaries newsgroups are still going strong too, but again there's the issue of most people being too retarded to set up a binaries newsreader and too cheap to subscribe to a decent newsgroup provider that offers alt.binaries.* and decent retention.

Most mainstream content you can still easily find torrents for. The more specialized, literature, audio-books, documentaries, etc, the worse torrents become.
For movies, series, and large collections of stuff, torrents are still great.
If you have trouble finding something on a single site, you can try using a DHT crawler.
Another possibility is to use qBittorrent, you can install an addon that lets you search a couple of dozens of the most popular torrent sites inside the torrent app itself, circumventing possible harmful ads that get around your blocker and general hassle.

Streaming sites like the 123movies and Putlocker clones have infested the tv/movie piracy arena that were once the bread and butter of torrent piracy. Most video game piracy use private torrents and those free upload sites. It's become quite the chore to find things these days.

For some reason, Demonoid is still up but good chance it's a honeypot. All of the old accounts are gone.

Be sure to use multiple search engines so you get a wide variety of results.

I haven’t had many problems finding movies. Most zoomers straight up don’t know how to torrent or what torrenting is, even if they’re very online. This damages the health of the overall ecosystem.
These streaming sites don't foster the seeding/archival spirit, but it's OK when you don't care about the Hollywood crap you're watching anyway.

The good, obscure stuff with quality control is on private trackers.

Yeah, I’ve always heard that private trackers are closer to the way things were in the heyday of torrenting. Alas, I am a deranged asocial schizoid who does not talk to anyone outside of this forum, so I will never join one (:_(gotta make do with the torrents I can find

You should consider joining MyAnonamouse. They don't give a damn about social interaction (aside from a quick interview based on the rules and your basic understanding of torrenting) as long as you seed content, login once in a while and don't stir shit up. One of the nicest private tracker communities that provides invites twice a week. Anybody can join!

Once you've built up a reputation, try to get an invite to Secret Cinema through the forum. Now, this private tracker is treasure trove of classic, non-mainstream, obscure movies ranging from the classics to arthouse content. Once again, no social interaction required. You just need to seed shit.

Huh, I haven't really noticed any difference in torrenting. The sites most people think of when they think "torrent" have had to migrate to TOR only to survive, so that is annoying. However, there are still a few sites on the clear web where you can find just about anything.

If you're going to torrent, make sure your libtorrent library is at least 2.0.7. Many places aren't supporting the old 1.x branch of libtorrent, so that would really limit your peers and seeds if you are using an out of date client. Also, libtorrent 2.0.6 is garbage, it has some strange bugs in it that make it perform like a syphilitic polishman's autistic Irish monkey. So make sure you are running 2.0.7 and that will ensure your torrenting is optimal.
