Sleeping Dogs, though I've also been playing some retro games like Contra and R-Type. I also tried that Terminator 2D game and it's fun. It could have used some voice clips from the film to make a stronger impression, though, since I can still remember what the ones from the T2 arcade rail shooter sound like.

Routine and A.I.L.A Why are horror video games so good lately? They have been better than most movies coming out lately.

Where Winds Meet has been a kickass experience so far. Beautiful game, fun as hell combat, incredibly little jank for a studio's debut, much less an MMO. Mostly just some subtitle issues and a couple crashes. The story has some boss moments and Kaifeng is an absolute spectacle. Really excited to see what they have in store for future content. Between WWM and Wuthering Waves I've been feasting good on Chinesium games the last couple months.
This shit was mind-blowing when it came out, but it's one of those things where the technical contribution of it to the medium doesn't mean it has any value today.
I mean this is your problem dude. Halo was the pinnacle of its time and everyone has spent over 20 years ripping it off. It was the first online shooter for consoles and it's just pure nostalgia for us who enjoyed having plasma sword duels and using weird BXR inputs to pwn squeakers in under a second. The campaign is a tiny amount of the time people spent having fun in those games.

I will say if you've come this far then give Halo 3 a chance because it is a major step up, with way bigger sandbox battles, a cool story, and more badass environments. If you like the world and the lore, the Eric Nylund and Greg Bear books are also really good and some of my favorite sci-fi. Everything past H3 and those books though just became gay and stale sludge because Microjeets can't do anything creative.

Black Mesa. Seemed timely like a week ago but Im trunging my way through my backlog at the moment and decided to take a break from slow grind RPGs and back to shooters.

Been playing the Tak games on dolphin I loved this series as a kid and the original trilogy still holds up great

Got my hands on the freedom planet games for Christmas....was curious to try them having I heard good things about them for years, but....well I did some digging after I noticed a few let's say interesting details about the games. (All female casts, sonic heavy influence, the cutesy anime look)

Sure enough the director/designer/programmer "Sabrina" used to be Steven. Always gotta spoil a good thing by having one of "their kind." Attached to something, pity.

Oh well I'm not gonna let it spoil the game too much, the first one at least. A fellow kiwi said the sequel is a lot more heavy handed with "subtle " white guilt spergatry in its writing. But not enough to spoil the game....they say.

Bought the Samurai Showdown collection yesterday and felt in love with it. I never had any NEO-GEO products back in the day and never saw it in arcades, so, while I was aware it existed, I never had an opportunity to play it while it was hot. If SNK weren’t terminally retarded with business, it could have rivaled Soul Blade/Calibur. I’ll be playing this one for a while.

in that slump where i install a multiplayer game, am forced to confront the fact that 90% of players are bots and/or lack any sense of object permanence, then install another one hoping it will be different (it won't). eventually I'll get tired of it and try again in a year.

and some against the storm on the side. just started it, it's breddy gud

Brotato and NIMRODs I do love me some Vampire Survivors-alikes. Just DLed the free demo of a new one called Arms of God, looks like a Diablo-styled monster-swarmer roguealike.

If you're into those you might check out Halls of Torment and Death Must Die - the former heavily draws from Diablo 2's aesthetic and the latter has some Diablo loot.

At the risk of sounding like a retard, I had Brotato on my phone and genuinely enjoyed it enough to shell out the cash to get it on my PS4. Game is pretty good at making you powerful but still weak enough to get shit on if you don't pay attention to specific enemies.

Pragmata demo. Game is alright but feels like it's only going to be about 4-5 hours. Not worth 60 bucks. The combat and puzzles feel too easy even on normal.
