What are some resources for learning Chinese?

They have a pretty script and I heard that Chinese interpreters make the big bucks. I might want to learn it if given quality resources.

Honest Answer: People told me it is better (and faster) to learn from a tutor, same with learning Japanese if you are interested.

Dumb Answer: Read a Chinese takeout menu and write random squiggles hoping you eventually come up with a real hanzi

Go take classes in Chinatown. Group lessons in person at the best. Italki if there are none around you.

You'll likely never speak passable Chinese. The sounds are too different from western languages. I've never heard anyone who spoke passable Chinese without spending a significant amount of time in a primarily Chinese speaking area.
