Maybe retroactively, but at the time that one was mainly a hit among lesbians and "bi-curious" college girls.

Trust me. I was around when that show was the hotness. I still have the PTSD.

I'm gonna guess whatever best fits the following criteria:
-is popular in general
-androgynous female protagonist (troons don't actually want accurate representation of trans characters, as we likely all know - I mean look at how wildly popular Hourou Musuko isn't among troons for example)
-yuri (because most troons are AGPs)
-has transhumanist themes (including things like magical transformations or technological ones)

As much as I want to say it's Sailor Moon or Utena (or whatever slice of life yuri cute girls doing cute things dogshit comes to mind) instead, I think you might be right. The dumbest part about it all is that the character design is androgynous on purpose because of who Lain is, to help the viewer solve the mystery (the mystery being: "Who is Lain?") - and instead terminally online coomers come along and treat it as a self-insert.

I've sperged about this before, but there are many reasons why, despite the plot of Ranma 1/2 seeming appealing to transexuals, ultimately cannot exist in it's original form.
  • Ramna has a good relationship with his father
  • Ranma is only interested in martial arts
  • Ranma does not exhibit any romantic or sexual desire to be with any women in the series
  • Ranma does not like or care about transforming into his curse female form, merely utilizing his curse to benefit himself
  • the main love interest and natal female Akane is a tomboy who berates Ranma exploiting his transformation into a woman for gain and calls him a freak
  • Akane throws cold water on Ranma to punish him as she knows he hates being a woman
  • Ranma is chased by multiple women in the series who want him as a man, as their husband, not for his curse
  • Ranma is challenged by other men in the series and often transforms into a women as a result of a water mishap, giving him a frustrating handicap in combat
  • Ranma is chased by an upperclassman and other men while transformed and is creeped out by their advances
  • One of Ranma's rivals and potential love interest for Akane, Ryoga, sleeps with Akane every night disguised as his curse pig form.
  • Happosai the master of the martial arts style Ranma, his father, and Akane's father practice, is a pervert who steals womens underwear and goes so far as to raid the high school girl's locker room for panties
In order for Ranma to exist in today's political climate, Ranma must enjoy being a woman, he must often gloat at being well-endowed than the other women (He only did this once after which Akane punched him through a wall and made him repair it), Akane can't berate Ranma for his transformations, the women can't force Ranma to do anything he doesn't consent to, literally the entire Happosai character would just be deleted, upperclassman Tatowaki has to find out and accept Ranma as a man which completely ruins the comedy, etc.

It's really just not worth it, yet somehow I have a feeling it may happen anyway because trannies have nothing better to do.

They brought back Trigun and it barely has anything to do with the original. Don't put anything past the Japanese at this point.

I hope they remake it and it stays true to the source material. Nothing can piss the troons off worse than Back Street Girls did.

Pseudo-intellectual shit (Lain, Evangelion, Elfen Lied)
- No sports anime (because tranny only sit in front of computer all day. They won't understand sports)
- No action (their brain to fucking slow to process action scene)
- No seinen (because they're not adult & can't process a realistic humans interaction)

Either Fate, Re-Zero or My Hero Academia.
-Fate and Re-Zero due to popular femboys such as Astolfo and Felix.
-My Hero Academia because a lot of teens watch it and troons use it for grooming purposes. Also because MHA is Marvel but for weebs and troons tend to be into the super-hero stuff.
