To be the Devil's Advocate, telling someone to kill themselves isn't a death threat because they aren't threatening you at all. If he said he'd go down there and force him to drink bleach, THAT would be a death threat.

That being said, it's pretty shitty and pathetic to use the "kill yourself" defense because you don't have an actual defense to an argument and instead just irrationally lash out because you're assmad that you can't come up with a counter argument. That doesn't make you look smart or indicate that you've won at all. That just makes you look like a childish philistine.

That is true but it is treated as a "rules for thee but not for me" by a lot of these people and more often than not get away it. So it's only a threat when they want it to be.
