This is more in response to the sequel series where the girl grew up and married him and had kids with him.

Edit: For context, the show is called Yashahime and people tried to cancel it because they didn't like that she grew up and got together with him. Her defense in this matter is...not the reason why the show shouldn't be canceled.

Double edit because my commute is a fucking piece of work: This is actually interesting because it's a hot button topic on twitter about this and I was following it for a while. Here's the deal:

First off, she's defending the wrong thing. People wanted to cancel Yashahime because they accused the white haired demon guy of grooming the little girl and were pissed that in the sequel, she got together with him after she'd grown up. In the original series, she was actually 8 and then by the finale she was 11-12. The sequel series happens 20 years later, she marries him and has babies with him at 17 years old. So people were going to twitter to say he was a groomer and she was underage and stuff like that. No one in japan has a problem with it and they are once again getting angry at americans inserting their culture and politics into something not american. Second, the show takes place in mideval japan where stuff like this is common. She's 17 (another character in the show had children at 17) and the demon..who's...not human appears physically as a 19 year old boy. (I think even then in japan the age of consent is 16 anyway lol)

If this is supposed to be her defending the demon guy, she's doing a pretty piss poor job of it. Vids have been made explaning the nature of their relationship:


And some vids were made of just people flat out saying they hate the ship and think the dude's a pedo.

Naturally of course, this outcry is only happening here in America. The people trying to cancel the show demanded funimation stop streaming it and take it down. Their general response to them was "lol use parental settings".

They're trying real hard to look for reasons to just hate on stuff and want to push characters that look like them (fat, ugly, unlikable, etc) into shows.

"People in japan feel the same..." Sorry but you can't make up stuff and say that's what the country thinks. It's real simple to why it's designed like this. It's not pedo bait, it's not to cater to some small "anti social demographic," and it's not cause they hate women. It's because it's fun and/or funny and they don't care about your sjw/pc culture crap. These are the same kind of people who find the movie, cuties, stunning and brave. That's enough ranting from me for now.

It's funny that these people want to get into every hobby but all that does upsets them and they just hate everything about it.

The real reason why things like fat people aren't represented in Anime is because...well, it's rare. Japan is known for having a very low obesity rate. It's practically non-existent over there.

The only fat character I can think of off the top of my head is that minor character from Persona 4 and that's from a video game.

Just because an ex-pat such as Unseen Japan or a translator living there complains about it, doesn't mean all of Japan hates it. Ren really gets around, huh? Fitting that she worships Ramona Flowers. Does she jump from comics to anime fandom just to gain that sweet internet clout? Comicsgate has nothing to do with anime, and she obviously doesn't know the genre if she thinks that's the first time a character has been designed that way. People don't like disgustingly obese subhuman scum. Most people see someone that fat and they're immediately repelled and disgusted. Fatties don't like this, but they could try being less fat.

Uh, not exactly. It's true that it's rare, but it's rare because there's a heavy cultural pressure against being fat. Japanese people are fucking disgusted by fatties. If you exist as a fat person in Japan, you can expect to have complete strangers walk up to you to tell you, in an oddly polite way, that you're fucking fat and should be ashamed of yourself.
