People are too harsh on 80s american cartoons. Many was in TV in my country in early 2000s and they were fun. No kid knew there had been a toy line 15 years earlier.
I didn't watch Thundercats but this new show is making me mad, it has all most irritating trends in modern animation - pointless reboot, that simplistic style, too random humor. I think they want to replace Teen Titans Go! as their main series.
It just looks bad.

I can't stop laughing at the hairstyle of the showrunner tho

Teen Titans Go, from what I hear, is on its way out. So this’ll probably replace it.

well, good luck then. the reboot in 2011 already failed to bring in the necessary toy sells to allow a second season.
And this thing really looks bad enough.

btw, a bit of aa heads up on the Nico Colaleo guy who like said he hated the original thundercats and made it sound like he is working on this show: He isn't. he had o correct that later on. but the damage is done. People think he is associated with the show

That Nico Colaleo is acting more autistic than "it looks bad, childhood ruined" people who probably wrote one comment and quitted. I said it before, but it seems like 90s nostalgia and hating new cartoons was trendy around 2010, now nostalgia bashing and "if you like something old better you must be blinded by nostaglia! We love to ruin your childhood" people are the new irrtitating movement.

This Roar show just looks bad and is unnecessary.

And we all know that with the hate it's getting, it'll bomb just as hard as the 2011 series did.

I hope so. Some people also have the unrealistic hope that the show will not even be released at all considering the backlash it gets right now (the dislikes on the videos are ten times higher than any likes) . Which I highly doubt. After all, CN has already aired other shit in the past. And why would they waste all the money on it and not show anything at all.
That said, I doubt it can become very popular without airing as often as TTGo

Lot of twitter sperging about ROAR, if it continues long enough it might warrant a thread.

Nice Fanart

I am actually curious how things are heading for Nico Colaleo. Even after it was made clear he has nothing to do with the show, people take his individual tweets and his behavior as provocation and attack him directly.
A white knight for ROAR has potentially damaged the reputation of the show more than the actual trailer.

At this point, I'm just waiting for a thread on the animation industry itself. I mean we already know John K., Lauren Zuke, Chris Savino and John Lasseter are all up there at this point. Why not the rest of the industry?

I would be willing to humor the new Thunder Cats and give it a go, but seeing how loud the Californian animator circuit on twitter is crying victim to criticism turns me off.

I get that death threats or hyperbolic complaints are too much for a dumb cartoon, and that despite aesthetics that animation is hard work. But they're adults and they need to stop tweeting about their hurt feelings, deflecting, and being such huge pussies.

Edit: please make an animation industry thread LOL. animation twitter is ripe with content. They're such an embarrassing circlejerk.

Considering the way most animation fans are, I probably sympathize with them a little too much. If you had to work on a show with a fandom like, say, Steven Universe's, you'd hate animation fans too.

I get you, and I agree. My point is and where my exhaustion comes from is there's probably better ways for them to state their side of the argument than stalking twitter to cherry pick the worst comments and say to any dissenting opinion "You're wrong your opinion is bad, cartoons aren't made for you, shut up."

It's a shame when they even go there, but I guess it's find a better choice of words to use for 'em.

It seems in general that older animators and those from Nick studios + small indie studios don't seem to give a fuck about the Thunder Cats drama, and are keeping their heads down.

well of course they don't give a fuck.
1) if CN does that shit, they are going to be the ones profiting the most
2) so far it only sem to be close friends or minions of Victor Courtright, the producer of the reboot, who are getting into it.

Speaking of Courtright and Colaleo (and I am sorry for focusing on that guy, but a quick look into him is extremely revealing) they are both probably some of the shittiest people to work on anything.
Aside of one episode of Mighty Magisword the guy wrote and storyboarded, Courtright's credits as writer and storyboarder involve nine episodes of Pickle and Peanut for Disney. He also was in the animation department of some epiodes of Yo Gaba Gaba, that godawful Movie 43 and some minor art movies no one cared about or heard from outside movie streaming sites.

And Colaleo has essentially been involved in anything John K inspired within the last 8 years (including Pickle and Peanut, Pig Goat Banana Cricket and Randy Cunningham. Through Pickle and Peanut he also knows Courtright mostly) with the only brainchild of his he had the most control over being TOO LOUD, a six episode cartoon about two big headed asshole kids being too loud in a library.

Colaleo also has a couple of dozen videos online where he and his friends did/do silly cartoony things, including a video where he acts like he jerks it to Archie comics

Damn, the things you can dig up on these people these days.
