The difficulty could definitely be tweaked. I think the circuit board recipe might be better off in a manufacturer and maybe an alt as an assembler recipe. But that would require a lot of change.
Maybe nerf liquid fuel power a bit and add a vaporized fuel tier between it and nuclear?
I think it be neat to go through some sort of liquidized coal power like your thinking after the basic coal plant.
Then to fuel, turbo fuel and then rocket fuel before moving into nuclear. Ease players into the more complex set up step by step and before they know it they're building a full recycled nuke plant. Rocket fuel is actually easier then turbo fuel, all you have to do is add in Nitrogen Gas and you good to go. Hell you even get back one third of the compacted coal you put into the system to use elsewhere. No reason to let it idle because plain fuel is perfectly OK.
Satisfactory does a pretty damn good job of scaling the building needs but for what ever reason you can complete the game on only basic fuel generators if you wanted to. That seems like such a waste too me as the nuke plants are pretty fun to build and manage and I get a kick out of seeing all the glowy dangerous stuff zipping around on belts. I just warms my heart to see it...and irradiates my body too I guess. Having a train chocked full of nuke waste zipping around the world keeps me on my toes as it will kill you if it drives by and your near the tracks. Good thing clones are cheap I guess.
I wish I could say the game was rushed and they didn't really think end game through but the Dev's had 5 bloody years to get the game done. Only Sweeds could take 5 years to make a game and still half ass the end parts.
The game obviously got appeal as player count is still holding at like 30K a month for an almost year old game and with the DLC coming out "soon" Coffee Stain has the money and time to get this shit right.
