Well this is interesting and new. “We apologize for any inconvenience or confusion,” Microsoft has suddenly posted after “mistakenly” claiming an awkward Windows update issue had been fixed. It hasn’t been fixed and has now gotten worse.
Per Windows Latest, this follows a Windows 11 24H2 bug triggering “a critical Firewall error.” This “false, harmless error” confused users and caused alarm. Microsoft then “incorrectly claimed the error is patched in Windows 11 KB5062553, [but] in reality, the update introduced error for everyone instead of fixing it.”

Windows Latest has been tracking this error since the beginning, reporting “that the Firewall issue wasn’t fixed. It kept showing up on my devices, and dozens of users told me they’re still running into the same.”

The good news is that “you can safely ignore” these firewall warnings. The error which is flagged as “Windows Firewall With Advanced Security 2042 None” is completely is simply a reporting bug and “poses no harm to your PC.”

As Windows Latest says, “Microsoft has already admitted that the warning is caused by a code bug that crept in with recent updates for Windows 11 24H2. The glitch only affects the event log entry, not the firewall itself.”

The litany of update issues affecting Windows 11 users comes as an awkward time, as Microsoft, its OEM partners and even government security agencies urge Windows 10 users to upgrade to the new OS. This despite the u-turn that has essentially extended Windows 10’s end of life for most users for another 12 months, until October 2026.

Only the finest poo spaghetti code for the Amerifat consumer.

It's only a matter of time before one of Microsoft's imported pajeet retards spills curry on a server farm and takes out half the countrie's infrastructure.

Maybe I should test run Mint and the like on a VB before they pull the plug on 10. :sigh:

aside from the Linux sperg memery, I am personally of the opinion that moving to an OS like Linux - namely, one that you actually have control over - is absolutely vital. Microsoft has been shit for a very long time, but they're continuing to get worse. they become increasingly calcified every time they switch leadership. Microsoft is not your friend, and Windows is not an operating system made to serve the user. Windows, since XP at least, serves Microsoft first and the user second. the only way to regain control of your hardware is to get rid of it. in previous eras, this was extremely difficult as there was no real alternative. but modern Linux has become an almost effortless switch, tailor-made to receive refugees by offering Windows-like GUIs and an extensive suite of software that can run nearly every Windows program like native if not better. it's not without its quirks and pain points, but learning to use Linux is far more rewarding than suffering whatever arbitrary retardation Windows has decided to saddle you with today. and as long as you endure that saddle or try to cope it away, you will remain forever cucked. and yes, using an older version of Windows is absolutely cope.

Coincidentally I'm watching a video made by someone who transitioned to Mint. You can run it off a USB stick, which is fine, but if it can really run all the software I want, and faster, then I guess now's a good time.
Back in the day when Win10 was the main OS, I installed Ubuntu and it was super fucking fast compared to Win10. I tried Mint later on and it was pretty good too. Only issue is a bunch of shit doesn't have generic drivers and you gotta do retarded command line bullshit and i'm too stupid to do that so I went back to Win11.

Definitely wanna get back on Ubuntu soon though.

I switched to Linux about a month ago and I can confidently say that I'm never going back to windows. The user experience has been at a steady decline since windows 7 and I'm done fighting to get my own goddamn computer to do what I want it to. Every last soulless demon worshipping ghoul at microsoft can eat a bag of dicks and choke on the last one.

The pajeets responsible for this have been sternly reprimanded
The CEO is a fucking jeet. He didn't punish anyone. Microsoft has a monopoly on the business market. when it comes to operating systems and office software. No one is getting punished. Windows will continue to get shittier while businesses will just sit there and take it.

Windows XP was good. And 7 was great. I'm on 10 and will remain on 10 until I have to move. Then it's the stripped corporate install image of 11 that still allows local accounts, no microsoft.com and rips out recall and the telemetry. Or Linux tbh. Leaning the latter. 10 is still plenty functional
Sadly, that day is October 14.

I am completely glad I jumped ship for experimenting with Linux. All you really need to find with it is a distro that's friendly for people jumping ship from Windows to start and take a day to figure out the new software. Ignore the drama if you're just starting with Linux, no amount of troonfoolery or gay drama can be as bad as working with jeets on the company dollar.

If it's an option, look up AtlasOS. Still windows but debloated. I am only a new user with it but did a full reinstall on my gaming computer using Atlas in January. It has been rock solid, though the discord userbase is full of pedantic sexpests.

driver support continues to improve. try Manjaro. ignore all the nonsense about enterprise - Manjaro is Arch Linux prepackaged with a desktop environment of your choice. I recommend KDE. as a long time Windows user, it was instantly familiar to me.

Seems like its what I've been looking for: a drop-in replacement (or near enough) compatible with all of my existing programs.

BUT GUYS APPLE DOESNT HAVE VIRUSES

>Downloads RussianSexHorseFuk.dmg
>Proceeds to go on email link to chasebank.in.com to check balance
>Constantly brings laptop to shitty public wifi at sportsbar next to Starbucks and runs DMZ.
> Links apple account to every single service

I AM IMMORTAL HAHAHAHAHA!

I never get this thinking. IMHO apple is the most retarded dogshit company next to microsoft. I hate the shit out of every single GUI choice apple has ever made. Fucking unusable garbage.
Pretty much this, but until a company can come along and nuke the fuck out of both OS's we're stuck with them.

An OS which connects me to the internet, allows me to use Open Office (yeah, it's Java, but I'm not paying Microcock extra monies), can connect me to Steam when I want to play some Football Manager and has a video conferencing tool like Skype (Microcock's replacement is dog crap and Google Chat is patchy AF) and has a better way of connecting to Ubuntu* other than via VirtualBox ... now if some bright spark could invent that I'd be quite happy.

* Yes, I tried Virtual Machine but it kept coming up with lib/var errors which weren't even there!

This is why I disable automatic updates and check the Ask Woody site every month. If the DEFCON is at 4 or 5, I update. MS-DEFCON is almost never 4.

LibreOffice exists.
it wouldn't even let her log on without an internet connection.
Windows 11 actually does with workarounds. Had to do that when I built my new computer last month. You shouldn't even need to look up how to bypass that when installing an OS, but here we are. Was too lazy to try Linux.

It's basically just a rebranded Windows 10 once you disable all the nonsense. Last truly good Windows was 7.
