Newest addition (and one I've been looking at for a while now, you don't see a lot of watches "Made in USSR" bearing the stars and stripes):

Vostok Komandirskie "Desert Shield" in brass

nato.jpeg led.jpeg

One of the most historically interesting Amphibias is the “Desert Shield,” a watch celebrating the success of the Iraq War military operation of the same name. Vostok produced (allegedly) 200,000 of these specially dialled watches, across a range of models – not only Amphibias. These watches were marketed to military personal for $99 ($149 for civilians), though apparently many were given away to troops stationed in Saudi Arabia. The Desert Shield Vostok was the brainchild of an American import company called Timepeace Russian Watches, and is an artefact of a fascinating period of US/Russian relations.Aside from the oddity of seeing “Made in the USSR” in the context of the jingoistic dial of these Vostoks, they are a great example of Glasnost, a policy encouraging openness and reform in the previously very closed USSR.That this watch, made in a Russian factory, commissioned by a company from Beverly Hills, was made possible by the reformist policies of Mikhail Gorbachev makes the Desert Shield Vostok a great memento of international geo-politics writ small.

Just bought another watch thanks to crazy 11/11 discounts.

Seiko NH36 movement, sapphire crystal, absolutely ridiculous for the money.
"Budget" Presage with better specs for less than 1/10 the price.

Movado for when I need to be an elegant

Supreme Leader Kim Jong Un loves Movado:

Anyway, I've got a bunch of mechanical watches from the grorius rand of Nippon:

The now-discontinued Seiko SARB035 on an Eulit Perlon:

The Geneva striping on the rotor is pretty cool but my camera doesn't want to show it properly.

Next is a Seiko Turtle reissue on an Uncle Seiko waffle strap, with an obligatory lume shot:

And finally is my Orient Ray 2 on an aftermarket Strapcode Oyster bracelet:

Don't mind the scuffing on the crystal, it's just a thick 3M plastic that I put so that there are no gouges or scuffs on the mineral crystal underneath. I can't be bothered enough to replace the crystal with a sapphire crystal which is even more brittle than the existing one.

Call me crazy, and you'll probably think it's ugly as sin, but I've always wanted a 24-hour watch

Check this Glycine Airman out then. It's automatic, has a GMT hand for tracking a second time zone and has an exhibition case back so you can see the movement inside. The watch is often on sale on Massdrop, so check it out.

I'm in the market for a bombproof, no nonsense mechanical field watch for innawoods. No batteries or lume paint. We going radioactive. Metal case and actual crystal because it will see hard use and I'd rather buy once, cry once. Dive rated because I do whitewater so it could see some gnar. I did educate myself on waterproof ratings and what they actual mean. Man is that shit autistic. Medium sized because I don't want some giant hunk of metal on my wrist while we do hoodrat shit. I've mostly been a G Shock guy from the military or something cheap because I know I'll break it. I don't mind paying for quality, but I'd like to keep it under $700 street price. I decided on the Marathon Medium GSAR after looking at the options and reading/watching all kinds of reviews and videos about watches. Is this a good watch?

Seems reasonable, Sellita SW200 is a fairly decent movement.
I wouldn't go with an automatic for really rough stuff, any G-Shock or Luminox is going to be more accurate and less prone to damage.

Currently playing around with cheap Chinese SW91 knockoffs on natos, kinda funky looking

I have a nice Seiko Coutura I wear most days, an aluminum and navy blue Skagen I wear on occasion, an old Timex camping watch for working in the yard and a Chase Durer Falcon Command 2 for when I hang out with other pilots and don't want to be mocked for wearing a small watch

New Arrival:

Dolce & Gabbana DW0362 Chrono

They sell for next to nothing and are proper chronographs.
I paid less than $25 for one in like new condition with original box, pouch and documentation.

I've had a love affair with nato straps for a while now, Vostok on black nato

New acquisition, Casio B612W (Module 695), pretty decent condition for a plastic watch made in the 80s.
Includes bracelet that pulls out a singular hair every time you move your wrist.
