I discovered an amusing game on amazon where it will recommend an outfit based on the watch
Where can this tool be found? I'm not finding it on Amazon or through Google searches.

Oy vey that's a hell of a watch. Palestine supporters could never pull that off.

What is this type of watch wristband called?
watchband.webp
It is 1 piece, instead of 2 pieces, fully covering the back of the watch. This type of band seems to be an "aftermarket" accessory, to be more rugged and durable than the 2-piece band that originally provided with the watch. I'm trying to find out more about this type of band. It seems to have been popular in France in late 1940s, early 1950s. This is the best example photo I can find, the other ones are lower res and black-and-white.

It's called a Bund strap, but the leather under the watch is typically a second piece of leather and the two straps that connect to the watches lugs are still the conventional two separate parts.

Edit: it looks like there are genuine one-piece Bund straps, but they are going to be very watch specific since the strap would have to match the lug-to-lug measurement and the lug width.

Thanks, those images are really helpful! I wouldn't have guessed it was constructed that way. I'm thinking to try something like this, as I've been suffering an annoying skin irritation to my current metal watch and synthetic wristband for a few months now, but leather band has never irritated my skin.

Update:

It turns that Ethan Klein may in fact be a full-blown watch autist. Yeet just posted this picture and it shows Ethan wearing the Rolex Day Date on the Presidential bracelet. Aka the Tony Soprano watch.

It’s impossible to tell the reference number from this picture. There have been so many variations of this watch since the 1960s. What’s important to note is that it doesn’t appear to have the lume block stick markers. This is a good sign. He also didn’t get diamond hour markers. Another good sign. I’m leaning towards this being a reference 18238. This model is highly sought after because it has the classic proportions and the double quickset feature meaning that you can change both the day and date independently from the hours. So you’re not sitting there twisting the crown a million times to get it set correctly and haven’t worn it in a week or longer.

Kiwi bros, it’s entirely possible that Ethan Klein is a full-on gangster.

The 18238 is the model that I have been considering and saving $ for, for quite a long time. But now that I can get it, I’m sort of leaning towards a low-key white gold Patek. I’m not sure I can pull this full gold piece off.

Always wanted a presidential DayDate just can't justify the cost. I rarely if ever wear gold and I the platinum ones just don't do it for me. I'm sure I'll eventually get a nice datejust but I'm still in the middle of the AD wait list game for a Sub date.

I've got like my next 4 watches picked out. Submariner Date 126610LN, Datejust of some sort with jubilee and white gold fluted bezel, Omega Speedmaster Racing 326.30.40.50.01.001 (I really like that it's automatic and Date on this model) and a Grand Seiko GMT SBGM003 on a leather Strap. I think that really rounds out a nice versatile collection with my Black Bay Monochrome and the few other smaller pieces I have.

Patek Philippe is too rich for my blood and the Nautilus doesn't really do it for me personally anyway. But it is a hell of a watch.

The older white gold Day Dates are really cool too. They are pretty low key and for now, they are priced like the yellow gold, some even below yellow gold.

David SW had one of these listed (ref 18239) for $17,000 with box and papers. This one below is a little overpriced at $21,000.

As much as I like white gold over yellow gold, if I’m paying $17-20k I think I’d rather just get a Patek (like a 5115 or 5117). It achieves the same thing, a low key, very valuable all-around luxury piece for multi-generational enjoyment.

With the Day Date you almost need to get yellow or rose gold. The whole point is to kind of flex, right?

My main issue is I just don't like yellow and rose gold on myself and I like the 41mm watch size. I'm not shelling out for a DayDate II in platinum when a Datejust 41 looks just as good to me. I don't give a fuck about the flex and honestly couldn't find myself spending more than 16k on a watch these days.

Just snagged a Seiko G757 from feebay for a bit over 100. Needs a little work aesthetically but is perfect in function. But now I can pretend to be James Bond AND Big Boss.

My watch box grows. I never should have learned to repair them. That justifies me buying more. Next year I open my repair shop. So here's to that.

On the latest MATI stream I sent Josh an XMR Chat asking him when he was going to become a respectable man and get a decent Swiss watch.

He replied that someone had actually sent a watch to his PO Box and he needs to go retrieve it.

This post is a demand to have @Null update is here when he retrieves it and show us all what he got. We are all very excited now and waiting.

Wanna take bets on what he got sent?

I think we would at least need a hint. I mean it could be digital, mechanical, cheap, expensive, in between. Tens of thousands of possibilities

My absolute shot in the dark is one of the soviet watches from Americana pipe dream.

If it was someone that knows about Jewsh's penchant for Slavic shit I'd have to guess it'd be some kind of Vostok watch. Those were pretty cheap when the SMO kicked off and half the price of A.P.'s shit from the grab bags. They even have styles that have hammer and sickles on the watch face. Or maybe he has a multi thousand dollar luxury watch waiting on him. Hard to say!

Ethan Klein has announced another content nuke. In the video, he seems to be wearing another Patek Philippe. If you slow the video down you can see that it is clearly the spade style buckle that Patek uses on it dress watches.

Given the thickness and what we can see from the dial, this is from the Complications line. It can be anything from a Triple or Perpetual Calendar or possibly a Regulator. It’s just too hard to tell. Hopefully we’ll get a better look at it.

Given the size of the bezel, I’m going to say that the 5205 is a good candidate.

IMG_5998.webp
Also, it might be new because throughout the day he keeps adjusting and looking at it. There’s quite a few Pateks that have this larger bezel so I’m really just taking a stab in the dark here. Does Ethan ever do superchats and answer questions? I’ll pay to to get my question read. I know nothing about his live show tbh.
