Wearing this today. It's from the 70's.

After a few good years of wearing this Casio F-105W:

I have decided that it's time to get something better.
So I ended up getting the GW-M5610U:

Compared to the old watch:
+ It's a G-Shock
+ Waterproof up to 200 meters
+ Solar charging
+ Atomic time sync
+ Extra alarms plus a snooze option
+ Timer function
+ World time
+ Auto backlight

- Quieter piezo
- LED light instead of EL backlight

Overall I'm very happy with the switch. It's fun to have a watch I can just completely drench under the tap without any worry that also doesn't drift away by a minute as it syncs every night. Plus the extra features are very nice to have, even if the backlight has been downgraded in the updated module and the piezo is generally quieter compared to the old watch.
 
The main flaw with men's watches is that they only look good on gigachads. The CASIO PUSSYSLAYER LX NOW WITH 68 MORE BUTTONS AND CHROMIUM TIMEKEEPING is meant for a wrist like Dwayne Johnson's, and even then all those features are only useful if you're shipping out to the Donbass or headed to a wilderness.

Pretty kino I've bought a stainless steel watch, when the rubber wristband on my calculator watch broke and so far it's the only watch I've had to own for a while now.

That's the main problem I face is that to powerlevel my wrist really isn't that thick. And I've had a lot of trouble finding men's watches that fit properly,. But I found that smaller watches seem to work well because I don't use majority of the features besides the hour chime function.
 
Casio has many nice watches apart from the F91W, Pro Trek, G-Shock and the others.

I really like the Casio MQ24

It's a watch, it shows time, treat it as a F91W with clock hands instead of a LCD, it's simple.

The AE100W is also quite nice

Shame it's stupidly overpriced in Europe (60 Euros for a 18 Euro watch)

Imho, a watch should show the correct time, everything else is optional. I have a Casio PRG-650Y because it's simple and has solar. (Who needs battery changes when you go outside)

That's interesting. There are pocket watches that got converted into wrist watches but this looks like a wrist watch that got converted into a pocket watch. Does the bottom part of the chain hook onto something or back around the bottom lug? Not sure if the lugs are fixed or not.

Looks like it's 3 tacche or tres tacche. Does it have three notches on the back?

I have a Casio ten year battery watch. It is very nice but very thick which and always catches on stuff if I wear it the normal way. Anyone know of a digital watch with a calendar and chronometer that is on the slim side?

Thanks! I didn't take a picture of the back, and I'm on vaccation right now, but I'll send it when I can.
Though I noted down the numbers on the back: (22525 227).

And yes, the other end of the chain hooks back on the watch.

Okay here you are, there's six notches.

Anyone have suggestions for an automatic watch under like 500 dollars? For reference I like the omega sea master aqua terra pictured below. this watch costs over 6k though.

The Citizen Tsuyosa line has stuff that's probably the closest you'd find at that price point. Maybe look through Long Island Watch's catalogue for something. They pretty much ape other designs and slap seiko and citizen movements in them.
For a little more Christopher Ward's Sealanders actually look pretty close to the aqua terra. At around ~$800 you're getting a swiss movement if you care about that aspect of it.

This thread dead? I've been a watch guy for a while but it's mainly been with tactical smart watches and the occasional seiko. I've inherented a few Hamiltons from my father in law and It's really got me into collecting recently.

I recently got my first big boy watch a Tudor Black Bay 41 Monochrome. And I'm planning on making a poor financial decision and picking up a Rolex submariner sooner than later.
