Has anyone with Primaris marines tried them out on the tabletop? I have a small force but as a blood angel player they, on paper, seem like decent support units... Expensive support units that my regular assault squads would crush in a charge. So I'm not sure how to sync them up, or what to expect from them.

Almost all the lists that I see are mostly Primaris, we'll have to see how Marinelets work out in 9th, there apparently were really bad in 8th until some new rules breathed some new life into them.

First Born's niche seem to be specialization. Chad Marines are much more pigeon holed in what they can do, but as more tech(they still have no grav weaponry iirc, and just got dedicated melee options) gets made available to them, the less if a niche the first born are going to have.

I often wonder what life must be like for folks who must absolutely use the paints GW tells them to use, no straying off.

They all died off when the paint range was relaunched the first time.

Also, lol @ the Space Marine codex relaunch when it was one of the last few remade for 8th Edition.

I try to match the GW official color schemes, but in the end, I figure as long as it's close enough it's close enough.

For example, my AdMech are Stygies VIII, which in theory is Mephiston Red. My Custodes' are being painted in the "generic Custodes" colors -- solid gold with one shoulder pad red, I think Mephiston as well. But my Blood Ravens are using Khorne Red, and to make sure everything all matches up, I'm just using Khorne Red on everything -- since I have a kind of soup-y collection, I'm matching colors as best I can this way.

So my AdMech are a bit darker than they should be, which I actually like. I actually use Iron Warriors instead of Leadbelcher, so all of my metal parts are pretty damned dark after a Nuln Oil wash -- except for hydraulics, which I use Leadbelcher on which makes them stand out. And my blacks I use a trick someone on another forum mentioned, using German Grey from Vallejo and then washing it with Nuln Oil, which gives you an aaaalmost but not quite black, with black shadows. (I think Dark Reaper or Corvus Black would be equivalent in the GW line.

Best model shown today was from a fucking page in the codex teaser...

Sad we can't see the obvious techmarine standing next to him.

I want... MORE CUSTODES

I kinda wished they had moved the Bolter Bananas from FW to main line, but I guess that would make them too much like Space Marines. The gunblades are kind of iconic.

The sagittrum guard are always in a strange place. Its always hard to pick them over normal guardsmen due to some of the stratagems. You sure as hell arent gonna cut back on a dread or allurus tho. The ventari might see some play tho.

Craftworld Eldar have this airplane called the Nightshade. It has 2 main build configurations: uncrested, with twin dorsal ailerons sticking out, or, with a single crest rear stabilizer. When in the former configuration, it is employed by the Crimson Hunter aspect warrior shrines. When it is in the latter, the name is changed to "Hemlock" and as a wraith unit and a psiker.

Because GW chooses to advertise box eldar as Saimhann (red color), the difference between the two isn't remarkable, considering Hemlocks are usually painted craftworld colors, while the Crimson Hunter, being part of an aspect shrine, must be painted in the shrine's scarlet and beige livery. Because the differences between the two configurations are mostly cosmetic (and their weapons can be swapped without using magnets) folks just paint those crimson hunters in whatever pattern.

I'm usually torn on this given that GW doesn't give a shit about eldar and that I doubt someone playing narrative or tourney would sperg out at the inaccurate portrayal.

I do if 2nd Edition models count.

I like those more than the current crop of mix and match Noise Marines. I have a few myself, but I'm holding off on getting more because I've been feeling like GW is six months away from a new NM kit; nevermind that I've been wrong about that for years now.

So I needed spray paint today only to find out from the local blue shirt that caliban green has been discontinued along with the fang. Hardly worth the journey but despite my first world problems did anybody who went in store to buy indomitus manage to get a copy?

My LGS had one copy left because the guy who pre-ordered it suddenly couldn't afford to get it somehow, so I scuttled over and snagged it. The Bladeguard are pretty sweet, tbh, and I really like the Judiciar and the captain models as well. Probably going to unload the Necrons and maybe the bikes.

Got the rules, not a fan so far. Busy this week will have to find time to read further.

I think the 40k tide will do better then fantasy tide. Have you ever met a fantasy fag that wasn't a complete degenerate?

I always found rank and file games of any description to be boring. The thing that really killed fantasy for me was how pointlessly complex combat was. Command bonuses stacked with how many ranks you had as well as where the unit was charged then how many models you lost that round. Then to top it off you god the god awful strength vs save mechanics to figure out which again was pointless because almost every mass unit had shields so the almost all had the 6+ parry.

I tried to get into fantasy but most tables were completely green with maybe a forest or two and a hill on each side. If I wanted boring looking tables i’d play historical instead. Eventually I only played triumph and treachery because those games were actually fun. Now my Lizard Bros just sit in a box with square bases and all.

Is that tank not the same tank as the one with the plasma cannon/vanquisher laser already out, just replace the plasma with twin gatling and lascannons?

New starter sets:

Recruit edition: 1 HQ 1 Squad, Necrons and PSM. Some cardboard terrain, a micro-rulebook, and a playmat.
Elite edition: Recruit + mini-rulebook, upgraded HQ (Captain instead of Lieutenant, Overlord instead of... whatever the Necron Equiv is)
Command edition: Elite + some terrain, double sided play playmat, full rulebook, command manual (intro to warhammer 40k missions)

And Indomitus goes off M2O tomorrow.

A question about Fantasy, how was the state of the lore before the End Times? I heard it was insanely stagnant even compared to 40k.

My relative just received their two Indomitus boxsets today.
Seemed happy with the surprise.

Me, on the other hand, found out that Forge World ran out of stock on Contemptor Chainfists.
Excuse me while I seethe in a corner.
