Yup. It takes a while for the chapter Techmarines to rein them in after the fighting's over, apparently. Then they have to decide whether to keep the current occupant or swap him for another Marine who has yet to completely lose his shit.
Imagine watching a DC spearg out inside a detached sarcophagus.

You know, with new vehicle rules, the cheapie plastic melta/fist helbrute might not be half bad at all. No penalties for moving and shooting (which is something my DG already had), and being able to shoot meltas into close combat really breathes new life into them.

Get a real vehicle, like a caladius Chad cannon.

Glad I'm having Helbrutes in my Alpha Legion army, then.

The fact that the Legion Trait makes them more survivable as they foot slog makes the melta/fist combo even better. I'm actually thinking about stripping my two Helbrutes now that being DG doesn't really offer them anything, and Myphitic Blight-Haulers serve the same purpose.

Mfw people whine about conga lines.

Grey knights get to laugh too I guess, but fuck those fags.

That tarot thing would be interesting in the case of Horus and Pertubo.

Alright, then.
I'm going to organize them in the following:

So with GW talking about patrol detachments i’ve came up with a couple 25 power point lists

Necrons - 25PP

Necron Lord - 5
Staff of light

Necron Warriors x10 - 6
Necron Warriors x10 - 6

Triarch Stalker - 8
Heat Ray

Lord walks up the board behind the triarch stalker with a squad of Warriors each side re rolling ones from the lord and stalker on units it hits with the heat ray. Alternatively I could split it into two groups with one squad of warriors following the lord and the other bubble wrapping the stalker get buffs from the targeting relay ability.

Dark Angels - 25PP

Primaris Master - 6
Master crafted auto bolt rifle
Power sword

Intercessor squad x5
bolt rifle x5, bolt pistol x5, Frag & Krak Grendades
Intercessor squad x5
bolt rifle x5, bolt pistol x5, Frag & Krak Grendades

Suppressor Squad x3 - 5
Accelerator Cannon x3, Bolt pistol x3 Frag & Krak grenades

Eliminator Squad x3 - 4
Bolt Sniper rifle x3, bolt pistol x3, Frag and Krak grenades

Master can buff intecessors with re rolls while walking up the board. Eliminators pick of characters and Suppresors can prevent overwatch which will be ridiculously overpowered if split firing still exists in 9th.

Any word on if Custodes will be anything beyond a meme tier army post-PA update / 9th edition?
If their costs are mostly left alone from the universal cost increases that have been hinted, then they'll be a lot more threatening. I cant imagine them raising their unit costs any more. 9th ed is also giving them more command points which is very helpful because they have some very potent strategems.

However at the end of the day you need those FW models. They are just required to fill in a lot of their weaknesses.

Their PA stuff has given them some more stuff to play around with, and has given a reason to play less used units like ventarii and sagittrum once they get more cp.

What I really want to see is a rework of the warden, because as it is there is really on one use case if you even want to use one. Which is to give it a vexilla and castle it with trajan and you caladius'/telemon. Even then I would only really say that's a good choice against shooting armies. Anything else you'll just want to spend the points on something else.

tl;dr if they get to keep their current amount of models while everyone else gets shaved down a bit then they will be "playable" without FW

As someone who watches casual games and doesn't play, I have a completely exceptional take.

However, we have very little idea how points are going to shake out other than a general increase. Melee and vehicles seem to be getting a buff, shooting a push or nerf, and horde's a nerf to almost hobbling. However, points could kill any of those.

It seems like they are slightly decreasing the size of a previously pointed match, with 3000 being the new 2000, and 500 points almost being Killteam.

If I had to guess, unless points kill them, Custodes having essentially an all elite army (plus sisters now) will probably help them in a smaller format. To me the losers seem to be Knights, since the is a lot of new terrain bonuses that they are almost specifically excluded from. But they get put Knights into reserve and get more CP now it's looks so it's all very speculative.

Likely though, the more options you have the stronger you're going to be, and I'd bet Marines and Necrons are going to be there strongest at launch do to having the most new toys.

a lot of these I dont see really fitting.

I started on some Gnoblars today and I can say that it's possibly the worst kit I've ever bought. Some of them are too spindly and break when you look at them, and others are formless dollops of plastic with little detail. If I didn't find them adorable, I wouldn't even bother.

The indomitus box goes up on the 11th and releases at the end of the month. I decided I'll just fucking get it.

It's seems like they shat this out real quick after announcement.

I suspect COVID screwed up some things, people were sitting on Psychic Awakening spoilers they couldn't buy for a long time, I'm guessing 9th would of been started previews a lot earlier in a world with out the Chinese.
