About to finish my BA successors, pondering whether to start a Scion-only army next or something else entirely, maybe harlequins or Tau for extra heresy.

Always wanted a Scion only force but it always seemed real fucking obtuse. Its gonna have a lot of flyers since you have no access to any IG tanks maybe even a forge world flyer too.

It's a really slim selection of models, but making the most out of a fuckoff huge flying cavalry seems fun.

What if Astrorath is actually getting a new model rather then Sanguinor or Dante.

So I'm starting to cook up my Raptor's list now that the Codex is out.

Sucks that it might be better to run Lias Issodon as a Captain since the Chapter Master upgrade isn't so hot anymore. Still, would just fudge it and assume Lias crossed the Rubicon, make him a Phobos Armor Captain, maybe with the Chapter Master upgrade. Pay the command point to get a Raven Guard relic in Ex Tenebris, with Lord of Deceit as the Warlord trait. Have him pull himself, a unit of Eliminators, and another Eliminators for offense, or Incursors to grab points into Strategic. That'll make him fairly close to Lias, just not as strong in melee since he'll only have combat knife and not a power sword.

I loved this it was a shame that lizard men didn’t bleed through into the 40K since they were also heavily connected the old ones.

Seriously Dinosaurs in 40K that weren’t some space elves gun wagon would be awesome.

They're called Slann.

wait you need to buy the chapter master upgrade for chapter master characters? I just got a Gabriel Angelos for my Blood Ravens

A bunch of Forge World stuff that's not in print got cut out of the Grand Tournament points list, something like 1/3rd of the Data sheets will be missing from the upcoming Forge World book. Lias was on the chopping block. I'm trying to get as close as I can to his rule set to recreate him.

But also yes, you buy the Chapter Master upgrade for unnamed characters with points instead of CP, 40 to make a Captain a Chapter Master. They get access to a special Warlord trait and relic, both underwhelming, and instead of having an aura of reroll all failed to hit, they have the Captain reroll 1s, and can give a unit with in 6" rerolls to hit in the Command Phase until the next a Command Phase (also rerolls only go to "Core" units and not vehicles, except dreadnoughts and bikes)

Angelos will have his being a chapter Master already cooked into his points.

phobos Captain with a beakie head I’m guessing for you. Though iirc the Phobos captain is actually a rather good range HQ for once much like Issadon used to be.

Ex Tenebris triples his damage, worth it I think for the CP(even though they are going to be Ravens in all but name), as a successor Chapter. Lord of Deceit may not be the best choice, but it's almost exactly the ability he had except he can strategic reserve Primaris.

I'd really like beaks, but the Raven Guard Primaris sprue only comes with two beakies per $24, and nothing else I'm interested in. May do it for Lias and a lieutenant, but I'd like to do them all with beaks.

Going to get Recruit Starter then Start Collecting Vanguard Space Marines, Phobos Captain, and Incursors. Won't be the most cohesive list, but I should have a 500 point list and be close to a 1000 points.

Then I'll have those Necrons. I kinda like the idea of a Melee list with Skorpehks, Ophidian destroyers, and Hexmarks. I wish Flayed Ones were troops. Don't know if I'll go that far though.

Can you believe it? Gamesworkshop managed to actually give 3 similar units their own niches that you arent putting yourself at a massive disadvantage for picking one or the other. Could this be.... balance? Balance between Astartes and Primaris? Holy shit.

its weird because as soon as I bought a box of BA terminators, this popped up in my sub box.

I’d take Agressors or Terminators still. Centurions reek of that extremely odd period of space marine releases before primaris

Did anybody watch Baldemort's Imperial Fist video?
https://youtube.com/watch?v=_nvK_Jq9Faw
To me, this is a good follow-up to his Rogal Dorn trilogy (arguably his best work).
I never really bought into the whole "imperial fists and rogal dorn are boring" thing, I've found space wolves to be a lot less inspired. But still, baldy did a great job with these videos on dorn and IF.

I'm really tempted to pick up an Atropal and run it as a Nurglesque Daemon Prince, if I can remove that shitty base without ruining it.

I love the idea of a Chaos Lord fighting for Nurgle for hundreds of years, only to be greeted by a booming voice from the heavens that says, "THOU ART A NEW CREATION IN ME, BELOVED," and then they get turned into this thing.

The Fists are my favorite legion/chapter pretty much for the reasons everyone else seems to find them boring; they're the guys who are quietly doing their jobs behind the scenes and generally holding the line while the Smurfs and the Wolves and the Blood Angels are out getting all the glory. They may not be flashy or glamorous, but they get the job done and the Imperium would be boned without people like them. Likewise with Dorn. He was a stubborn dick, but he was damned good at his job. Terra would have folded like wet cardboard without him.

IF probably have the best over all line up of interesting successors as well. BA have the problem of a lot of them being samey for obvious reasons, sans the the lamenters and flesh tearers. No one actually cares about Smurf successors. Space wolves have 1 active, which was a retarded choice lore wise. All the other legion successors are woefully under represented.

The most hilarious part is that traitor legion loyalist successors get more play then a lot of loyalist legion succeors.

But besides the rambling, IF have a lot going on, but people don't pay attention to them because they don't sperg the fuck out like space wolfs, and aren't marketed to shit like Ultramarines. Which is a shame and a bit confusing.

Yeah, the Fists have some really diverse and interesting successor chapters: Black Templars (always crusading all the time, wipe their asses on the Codex), Crimson Fists (fuck all orks, even more stubborn than the originals), Soul Drinkers (lol we're actually from one of the missing legions, Papa Dorn just adopted us), Celestial Lions (bitchin' space Masai who try to do the right thing even when it bites them in the ass), Astral Knights (TODAY IS A GOOD DAY TO DIE), Executioners (actually World Eaters in disguise), Sons of the Phoenix (lol we're actually Emperor's Children successors, Cawl is taking the piss), Hospitallers (Knights Hospitaller in 40K, complete with Emperor-worship and defending civilians).

Hell, the reason I got into the Fists in the first place was when I was messing around with the chapter creation tables from 1d4chan to make a custom SM chapter and rolled them as my progenitor. I'd wanted Salamanders originally, but then I read up on the lore and realized two things: A. Salamanders don't get successors because GW doesn't love Vulkan's boys, and B. I actually really liked the Fists and wanted to make them my first army. I still rolled up my successor chapter and have designs on painting up a little detachment of them someday, but I'm committed to my Fists army now.
