Just saw the trailer and realized that there was no thread for this game, so here it is!

To kickstart conversation, I came up with a few questions.
1. What are your hopes for this game?
2. Anything already disappointing you?
3. Praise the Machine God?

I hope the game adds more customization for Tech-Priests. There simply wasn't enough of it in the first game, and all my tech-priests ended up somewhat the same after a certain point. They should add a bunch of special STCs to equip, and make the game have more classes.

Another thing that I hope for is an option to have permanent troops. Every troop in the first game was disposable, and that's thematic and all that, but I hope we can have like a special troop that we can name and add stuff to. Like some special assassin or bodyguard skitarii. Let me make a servitor into a walking tank and call him some stupid name!

I also really want to see more about Machine Spirits. I know that they are meant to be mystery and all that, but I've always believed that the Mechanicus has neurons in pretty much all their tech, to make it harder to corrupt, so all machines are technically alive. I would love to see that concept explored, maybe some entire missions meant to placate some Knight Machine-Spirit so that we can use them during missions? That would be awesome.

As for Titans? If they appear in any form, I hope they are only used as background to a mission, or as the place a mission happens, or as the reason they are fighting. I think that if they appear in-game, they will probably mess up and make them too weak.

After all, the first game was notorious for how easy it was after a certain point. I don't know about you guys, but when I was playing it was the Necrons who were desperate, not me. I Xenocided them so easily that I had to tune up the hardest difficulty to make things interesting, lol.

Now, here is the first thing that disappointed me about the entire thing... the Necron storyline. I know that some people wanted to play as Necrons, okay. But I play a game called MECHANICUS to play as MECHANICUS! So, every time I think about the resources and times that were invested into the Necrons, when they could've made the Mechanicus even more detailed with extra units, events, and whatever else, it just makes me fucking angry.

But ehhh, maybe both storylines will be awesome? Who knows, we only have a trailer and a few screenshots for now. Speaking of them, here they are.

God, for a moment I thought that was Belisarius Cawl. Anyway, that Tech-Priest looks unique. Hope we can customize Tech-Priests to make them all look bizarre and unnerving, just as the Omnissiah intended!

Okay, that fat man with the scroll looks awesome. It looks like we're either getting some interesting new troops, or the Tech-Priests will have more classes that make them look unique, instead of just the same. Or, perhaps, the named Tech-Priests we interact with will be units we can send into missions?

An entire world and territory system? That looks awesome. Perhaps we will even get to bombard continents?

This art looks beautiful! Much better than the first games, hope they add that exploration mechanic that reveals what each option does.

Am I going crazy, or are the two Skitarii in this image using different guns? I think one is holding a long rifle of sorts, while the other has a bulkier weapon in hands. Maybe troop customization will really be a thing?

And to close this off!

I am not buying 40k stuff anymore, but I would likely be dissapointed if I did.

This looks like what could be an expansion in the old days of gaming.

I expected something new, not "now you can be the other faction too!"

The soundtrack at least I hope will be a good youtube listen.

To answer your questions.

1. There is no hope.
2. 40K in the title is the first thing that immediately disappoints me, but I look forward to experiencing more disappointment when watching gameplay of it.
3. You are massively gay.

I can't blame anyone for looking forward to this game, the first one was my favorite 40k game ever.

That said, yo ho ho, me and the rest of the Red Corsairs know how to handle GW.

If this was an expansion I would be very happy with it. But it feels like... too much of the same, they couldn't even create a new enemy to face? That is how Dawn of War did expansions in a better, more civilised age. Playable necrons would have been a great dlc for the first game. But it is a DLC, for a full game 2.0 I would have expected orks, tau, etc.

You mean how Winter Assault still had Orks, Chaos and Eldar, just like the Vanilla version? An only time something new happened, was in Dark Crusade where they made it pretty much a lite version of Total War

Mobile games can be fun, but that game is NTR, no thanks.

Developers have gotten the combat nailed down. They just need to add more without breaking it.
Also I hope they'll add some sort of "strategic" layer- maybe taking over planets with diiferent bonuses, managing production, maybe even dancing around with balancing the needs of your campaign VS. the needs of imperial war machine at large. You do play as Mechanicus after all.

Don't really care about Warhammer but got the first game free on Epic and enjoyed my time with it. It wasn't the deepest game in the genre but pretty fun, a solid 7/10 type game.

Might torrent a repack if it gets good reviews.

We have some news about the game. First off, new trailer shows off the Squats. They're going to be a third faction of the conflict. Unfortunately, we can't play as them and shout ROCK AND STONE. Probably because GW is gay.

But the really interesting part is that Bulwark Studio posted a FAQ on their discord server. Here is a copy of it for anyone interested.

What is Mechanicus II?
Mechanicus II is a turn-based tactical game with strategic management elements.

What's changed from the first game?
In Mechanicus I, the Necrons were the game's non-playable antagonists. In Mechanicus II, you'll be able to play as both the Adeptus Mechanicus and the Necrons, each with their own fully realised and unique campaign playable in an order of your choosing. This time around you'll be fighting for control of an entire world, across multiple biomes, and also contending with a faction brand new to both the series and Warhammer 40,000 video games: the Leagues of Votann.

Beyond that, we've made a whole host of refinements to existing features and implemented exciting new ones. This includes faster-paced combat, a revised Cognition system and a new equivalent mechanic for the Necrons called Dominion, and environmental mechanics such as cover.

Leagues of Votann?! Will they be playable?
No – the Leagues of Votann appear in the game as a non-playable faction. What their goal is, and whether they’ll serve to help or hinder your cause as you play through the Adeptus Mechanicus and Necron campaigns, you’ll have to discover yourself!

How do the Adeptus Mechanicus and Necrons differ in their playstyles?
As before, the Adeptus Mechanicus utilise Cognition, based around the idea that knowledge is quite literally power. Rather than being gained through environmental interactions as in the first game, Cognition in Mechanicus II is primarily generated by non-leader units performing exemplary behaviours: for example, Servitors taking damage, or Rangers attacking from a safe distance. Cognition points can then be spent by the Leader to move further or activate powerful weapons and skills: in this way, activating your units in the right order can culminate in a very powerful Leader activation.

When playing as the Necrons, every point of damage inflicted on the enemy will award a Dominion point: gain enough Dominion points, and they’ll go up a Dominion level. Certain Necron weapons and skills either unlock or become more powerful at higher Dominion levels. This means their units become more deadly as the skirmish progresses, and making tactical use of your units based on current and predicted Dominion levels will be key to victory.

Any other major gameplay changes?
While enemy units will have fixed positions in the turn order, your units won’t be subject to such restrictions: when it’s your turn, you’ll be able to play any units that haven’t yet been played in the round. Activating the right unit at the right time will be key to victory.Additionally, the system used to represent the rising threat of the Necrons in the first Mechanicus has changed: in Mechanicus II, when playing as the Adeptus Mechanicus, rather than the Necrons' threat level being tied to how much time has passed, it will instead be tied to certain decisions you make both before and during a mission.

Will any characters from the first game be returning?
Yes! You’ll once again play as Magos Dominus Faustinius, and this time, his squabbling council of tech-priest advisors will function as the battlefield leaders of his ground forces. Scaevola, Videx, Khepra, Captrix and Rho all return, each with a distinct playstyle and their own upgrade trees.

Is the game being made by the same team as the first one?
Yes – the game is developed by Bulwark Studios and published by Kasedo Games.

When will the game be released?

The game will be releasing this year.

What platforms will the game be available on?
Mechanicus II will be available on Windows PC, Xbox Series S/X and PlayStation 5.

Is Guillaume David once again behind the audio design and soundtrack?
Yes – praise the Omnissiah!

Has Ben Counter also returned?
Yes! The Silent King has tasked his most favoured chronicler with writing the next chapter of the Mechanicus saga.

What languages will the game be in?
The following languages are currently planned: English, French, Italian, German, Spanish, Russian, Japanese, Chinese Simplified and Korean.

What are the minimum and recommended PC requirements?
TBC.

Will there be multiplayer?
No – Mechanicus II, like Mechanicus I, will be a single-player game.

The Squats might be the most monkey paw thing in 40k (which is quite the achievement). Extremely bland and uninteresting models and retarded lore that damages the world more than contributes to it. It's the case where writers were justified killing the idea due to how derivative it is.

New trailer, gameplay overview. Idk if I like the whole idea of playing as necrons, tbh. I'd prefer if they focused all their efforts in expanding the Adeptus Mechanicus instead. But ehhh, looks cool. The menu art-style looks pretty boring, but I do like the new look of Mechanicus leaders and units.
