Fuck me, of course they did. I just decided to grind my Hydroid from 0-30 and my Nekros was my go to for when I needed shit. That's just depressing, I know you fuckers are making money off this game now, why would you fuck it up right when you're running and introducing new events and content?

Just dumb.

Same. And I just deleted the software. Fuck DE.

One of the things I always lauded DE for was that their F2P model was actually pretty good. Maybe a little predatory but the rewards and unlocks came to players pretty easily if they opted not to buy plat.

Mod booster? Come on DE.

Me neither. I put about 2,500 hours into this game so I saw the writing on the wall a looong time ago. I figured eventually they would finally turn the community against them with their incessant need for more monetization. It's amazing that this is the same company that once removed a microtransaction feature because there were only a few "whales" buying it and they didn't think it was a healthy game mechanic.

I'm still wondering about that change. Whenever the backlash happened and they addressed it in a Devstream, it was one of the very few times Steve seemed uncomfortable explaining why.

Usually, he has confidence with the changes they make, no matter how much the community 'REEE's at them. Makes you wonder what made this one different.

Yes. Don't forget that digital extremes is owned by a Chinese holding company called Sumpo Food holdings (now Leyou), which manufactured processed chicken until they started buying up western dev studios with their greasy chicken bucks. So Steve and co answer to some faceless Chinese execs who literally couldn't give a shit less if the community REEEEs over this stuff. For an example of how little shits they give, another of Leyou's developers was sued by the Tolkien estate for illegally making shitty Lord of the Rings themed casinos and videogames, and Tolkien's estate claimed that the defendants' actions had caused "irreparable harm to Tolkien's legacy". :story:

So "cha-ching" is quite literal in this case. The Chinese will monetize this game into the grave, and the Chinese people already hate warframe for reasons listed on the previous page, but there's no doubt the infamous Chinese whales buying ridiculous shit to keep their profit margins nice and pretty.

In Tolkien's defense, his estate is REALLY fucking finicky over what gets done with the IP. And I wouldn't wipe my ass with Chinese promises; they're worth less than used toilet paper.

Sad though. Warframe has some gorgeous stuff.

In typical DE fashion, further clarification has been dousing the sparks with fuel, by putting said booster as a prime access exclusive and claiming this was always in the works, just that now is the proper time to implement this.

Haven't played Warframe in so long due to Destiny 2 being fun for once. It's a shame that Nekros and Hydroid can't be survival bros anymore, but I might dip back in for the Empyrian update when it launches. I've always wanted to command a spaceship with friends as crewmembers.

It just goes to show that they at least try to foster a community compared to even triple A publishers.
 
The main problem was nerfing hydroid and nekros and replacing it with literally nothing. This synergy has been in the game for years. The farming options without boosters is typically relegated to these frames. IMO, they haven't yet found a variable amount of frames to solve this, unless they have mods that make other frames farmers in different ways. They should not have nerfed it until there was a decent amount of choice. And that is awhile away.

Then the mod booster comes out (which isn't all that huge. 0.2% to 0.4% isn't really a 'pay 2 win' advantage).

The mod booster is only going to be in for a few months but has been discussed internally for years. I am not sure they'll permenantly add it myself. I kinda don't want them to because the sortie pool is big enough as is, unless they just throw it in with the booster chance.
 
Problem is, the grind in that game is already brutal. Once you're dealing with the high-end mods that have lots of ranks, the cost to max one is obscene. At that point, anything they do to make the grind even worse just seems petty, and doing so right before turning around and offering to sell a grind-reducing item comes across as very shady. I don't think anyone would care if they brought out new farming frames that were viable replacements for nekros and hydroid in the name of variety, but just making the nekros/hydroid combo suck ass didn't solve anything.
 
I've been given some info by someone who is close to a member of DE's inner circle, but be sure to take this with a grain of salt either way. Expect there to be a ton of cosmetic updates and further monetization like the mod booster. Fashion frame is more profitable than actually producing real content for the game. DE has been focusing on getting new players to play the game as there is already content for them to play. Trap new players in a cycle of spending til they get burnt out and then get a new wave of new players to become wales. Rinse and repeat. Higher ups at DE think very poorly and often insult the playerbase behind their backs. Not exactly breaking news, but seems to further the proof that DE despises their own playerbase. Hell, even Aidan, a former employee for DE and self proclaimed communist revolutionary, called the community cash cows.
 
I don't know, I enjoy Warframe. Then again, I'm a sucker and bought Prime Access just one time. Probably one time too many, but I put tons of hours in so I found it worth it. Then again, I won't even tell you how much money I spent on DotA 2.

The main problem with the grind I think falls into four places:

1) Forma
2) Orokin Catalysts
3) Orokin Reactors
4) Endo

Forma is needed to increase the amount of mods you can install and is painfully slow to get unless you want to try and farm the Octavia puzzle on Lua to get a guaranteed one. Its painfully fucking slow to build, one every 24 hours. Typically you want to use 3-4 per frame and weapon, sometimes you use more. And with like 30+ frames, you'd need like 150 forma. Forget about weapons. So Forma is definitely a break point.

Both Orokin Catalysts and Reactors are a huge fucking pain in the ass to get. Again, they're really necessary to make things useful for high level content. The main problem is you have to do sorties to get them, and its random. You might get a reward or two from Nightwave. They really need to be cheaper for nightwave.

Lastly, Endo. This is really the limiting factor. Good mods to max out sometimes require 100k+ Endo. Cash isn't typically a problem as you can just run the Index which doesn't take all that much time. To get a decent amount of Endo, you need sculptures and stars or run a lot of Arbitration and it isn't guaranteed. There's no clear-cut way to farm Endo like cash. And paying for Endo is fucktarded as you get jack for the amount of plat you have to spend.

Relics are ok, just go and try and find Radshare groups to open them up.
