I remember the early days of the "trap triggers the bot" fiasco because a buddy got a week long chat ban trying to help me.

I wish I had my screencaps but I remember a clan (warframe guild equivalent) mate getting banned while trying to help me clear the Chains of Harrow questline. He recommended Nezha, gave me a list of mods, an ideal weapon loadout, a loadout for my pet, and a list of the gear I needed with the Kinetic Siphon Trap at the end of like a paragraph of stuff. He was doing something to make the names of things appear [like this] which would being up a brief description of the item in question when clicked on.

I read the message and shoot back that I'll put together his recommendations once I ran Nezha through a few missions to level him. My discord pings. I ignore it. I ask him why he's quiet. Discord pings again. I look down. There's a screenshot of his chat window with "your access to game chat is temporarily suspended."

I had to work not to laugh but it became much less funny as the sensitivity of both the auto mod and the meatbag moderators became apparent.

Jesus christ. That's fucking shocking. Truly unbelievable. Shit is unacceptable. Games need to let chat be chat and let shitposting happen and only intervene with harrasment and scamming.

I guess that won't be a problem now, since there's apparently some American law that requires multi-user software that has a chat function to also have a built-in voice-to-speech option, so the disabled can use it. I'm probably entirely fucking up the story, but Anthem (the upcoming BioWare MMO lite shitfest) is supposed to be the first AAA game to have no chat functionality built into it, because of this law.

When the chat filter first went into effect, any mention of the word trap got a three day ban.

Yup. Found it out the hard way when I was teaching a friend I got into the game how to trap synthesis targets for the sanctuary.

The Planetside essay person is a goon. They were bragging about it on the forums a while back.

It became a bit of a minor Meme when people were quoting his own "but traps own" post back at him, which he'd made a while previously.

Of course FAU shit himself over gabbergibblers and banned the goons doing it. Similar happened with GW2 - if you brought up how Price was a toxic piece of shit, the discussion was called a fooblyfaber talking point and, you guessed it, bans were given out. Sucking corporate dick was, evidently, acceptable.

That makes sense, SA mods used to give people challenges to escape a ban, so that might have been the inspiration. Sometimes it was actually funny, but most of the time it was just a huge circlejerk and the mods were obviously getting off on it.

FFXIV might start behaving similarly as they decided to add Nuisance Behavior as an offense. I know it's Sankaku, but they're the first I came across to cover it. Wasn't entirely sure this warranted a thread on its own, but this thread reminded me how similar the situation is.
– Harassment

“Harassment” means speech and/or behaviour that inflicts deep emotional distress on another person. It is an extremely serious violation. Where Square Enix determines that harassment has occurred, a penalty equal to or higher than “Temporary Service Account Suspension” may be imposed.

Below is a non-exhaustive list of behaviour that could constitute harassment in Final Fantasy XIV:

・Discriminatory expressions based on race/nationality/thinking/gender/sexual orientation/gender identity

・Discriminatory expressions about a state/religion/occupation/organisation, etc.

・Obscene/indecent expressions

・Actions that inflict emotional distress using content related to historical events or crimes

・Stalking

・Disclosing or indicating personal information such as contact details with the aim of meeting up in the real world

・Disclosing or indicating another person’s real world personal information without permission

・Other actions that are generally regarded as actions that inflict deep emotional distress on another person

These are prohibited in all places where expressions can be made, including chat (including Quick Chat and Emote), markers, comments and names. With regard to character names, if a phrase equating to harassment is formed within the full name, this is also regarded as harassment. In the case of a group action, all of the members involved will be subject to penalties.

There may be other types of harassment that do not fit into any of the categories described above. Square Enix may determine that conduct constitutes harassment, even if such conduct is not expressly prohibited herein.

Now you might be thinking, sounds reasonable, right? That's when Nuisance Behavior kicks in and even mentions that intent doesn't matter.
– Nuisance behaviour

“Nuisance behaviour” means speech or behaviour that hurts others or obstructs game play, but which is not classified as harassment. Even if it was not the intention, a penalty may be imposed if the end result was that another person was hurt or obstructed.

Below is a non-exhaustive list of examples of nuisance behaviour:

– Offensive expression

“Offensive expression” means an expression in general that inflicts emotional distress by being offensive to another person. Offensive expression may include:

・Aggressive expressions such as violent language/slander/insult/threat.

・Expressions that provoke or belittle another person, such as excessive criticism, negation/ridicule

・Expressions that significantly lack consideration for another person

・Expressions that unilaterally reject another person’s opinion

・Expressions that any reasonable person would find offensive

・Expressions that compel a playing style

・Expressions that attempt to unilaterally exclude someone from the game or content/community, etc.

(Except when in accordance with rules set by an administrator such as a Free Company Master)

・Expressions that contravene public order and morals

・Other expressions that are offensive to another person

Offensive expressions are prohibited in all places where expressions can be made in Final Fantasy XIV, including chat (including Quick Chat and Emote), markers, comments and names. Use of an offensive expression in the form of a character name is also regarded as nuisance behaviour.

Basically you can't even tell people to "git gud" or why they're bad at their Job if they take offense... and in Balmung they will. There is a pretty high amount of trannies that play XIV or are made trannies because of it, so good luck if you're not gonna take advantage of their new soloing shit. Expect double standards to be at play.

As someone who loves to play FF14 i'm both disgusted and depressed YET ANOTHER i like is turning to shit. Oh the part about trannies is disturbing

I have played Warframe since the Beta, and I dont think i have spent more than 5 minutes in region chat in all that time.

The best thing about matchmaking is you dont need to talk to these fucking spastics at all.

The issue isn't being bad, it's not wanting to be good. The buttons highlight for your combo for crying out loud, but people are so dead-set on being unique and against the grain, that even the reward of clicking a highlighted button and seeing a cool animation isn't enough for them. "Why is there only one way to play this class?"

Like, what the fuck do you want to change? What CAN you change? You got 2 combos and buttons to press in between. You never had talents or sub-specs like in Warcraft.

Yeah, that's the greatest thing. Also I've never found the Warframe community terrible. Its pretty helpful. I just stick to my guild chat and trade chat. If I'm on, I'm on to play, not to fuck around and make like its a chatting app.

I just want an MMO with meaningful RPG elements.

Well, to be fair, Warframe isn't exactly an RPG. While it possesses some RPG elements, its more like a 3rd person action game with customization of weapons for certain situations.

Yeah I know that, but the customizable elements are what sets it apart from other similar games.

This is true. Warframe has a lot of customization that a lot of other games these days are lacking

I'm MR25 and even I haven't seen a single guide of the lotus. That program should just discontinue.
