Bryan and Mike knew the score. They even gave the middle finger to bratty shippers who wanted their OOC fetish bait to happen, over and over. I still remember the meltdown when Korra was announced and they said Aang and Katara had made a baby who grew up to be Korra's airbending master. It was glorious.
 
So the Let's Voltron interview happened today, and the tantrums started anew:

"How dare the creators not care about us after we harassed them for two years!" Or in the case of Sheith shippers, kissed ass for two years in hopes that that'd make their ship happen and turned against the writers when it didn't.

"Only the white people got a happy ending!" Excuse you Hunk got the best ending ever.

In which fans twist the words of the EPs to suit their own world view and make them look as evil as possible.

"Look at us! We're still whining about a joke they made ages ago and use that to prove they hate Shiro when we're the ones who decided he was worthless because he didn't stay a Paladin and fuck Keith!"

So, to wit, Voltron fandom is treating the creators like shit over fictional pairings, and Lauren and Joaquim have been too goddamn nice. If I were them, I'd blast fans all over the interview, name names, and show off my badly drawn fanart of Shiro and Curtis fucking while Keith gets a blowjob from Acxa and Pidge becomes Queen of the Universe with a harem at her feet just to spite these cunts.

I have a prediction after this current trend of show writers trying to interact with fans regularly backfires because of constant harassment, the smart ones will go completely under the radar like the olden days of 2005 where there was no creator twitter to contact. The ones that do stay in the spotlight will either be desperate or cows themselves.

Really, that was the biggest mistake the VLD creators made. Liking fanart is one thing, having their own ships is totally cool, but they should have realized that 99% of their show's fandom wasn't worth even saying hello to. There's no sin in lurking. Sometimes it's the smart thing to do.

I still can't fucking understand WHY do they say Hunk got a bad ending. He always liked food and cultural exchanges through food! He got to do that on an intergalactic level! He lives in a peaceful world too! The guy got a fucking golden end, and yet the fucking titbabes cannot get it.

He got his long-lost mother back, he gained many friends (the Blade of Marmora, Lotor's Angels, the Paladins, Kosmo), he's not alone any longer... I REALLY wanted to get into this series, but the lesbian power-fantasies over their pedarest Sheith (and other) ships just kept me away from it.

I try not to let the Tumblr mental asylum ruin fandoms for me, but Voltron's Tumblr fans were just too much for me, and that's saying something.

I recently found out that it was actually Jeremy Shada who said romance would happen organically, and that was because Klance shippers wouldn't stop bugging him. Shada was always an Allurance shipper, or at least big on reminding folks that Lance is straight. So all this "BUT THE EPS SAID NATURAL ROMANCE ONLY SO IT MUST BE SHEITH!" is bullshit.
