Honestly, I don’t think I’ve seen a fandom that’s this pathetic or this delusional. Why can’t they just accept that the show had a disappointing ending and move on with their lives instead of acting like it’s literally killing them? Honestly, if these people end up committing suicide over this, I wouldn’t even be sad, I would fucking laugh at them. It would just be natural selection taking effect.

I think these fandoms literally enjoy being angry and hurting over not getting their own way. It would explain why some of the big-name Sheiths declared the leaks real before S8 even dropped and started writing fix-its for the whole season because Voltron was SO going to cuck them. Or why Avatar fans kept watching even as Book 3 made them angrier and angrier. Or Korra fans who watched Book 2 just to bitch and moan.

They enjoy being angry because it makes them feel important, basically. And the more people they can pull into their circle of woe and tantrums, the more important they can feel.

Back when book 3 was airing there were the usual ship wars (Mai getting a lot of crap for existing, Zuko accused of being OOC for enjoying being with her), the bitching about Katara not forgiving Zuko right away, calling everyone "pod people" for some reason, the finale and Aang not slashing Ozai's throat like a good hero should, Ty Lee joining the Kiyoshi warriors, etc. It was mostly shipping crap, though.

Well the finale did annoy me a bit since it required two deus ex machinas in a row for the heros to win but of course they weren't going to let Aang kill Ozai, it's a kid's show. (Though, if you think about it, the way the show's setting works he kind of did a lot worse than kill him by mutilating his soul.)

The finale was by no means perfect, but fans got WAY too angry over its flaws. Or because it didn't resolve the way they wanted (aka with Aang foreveralone, Mai dead, and Zuko sweeping Katara off her feet).

Toph's final line of the series made up for its flaws, though.

I'd look forward to what's inevitably going to go down in the She-Ra fandom when something similar happens, but considering The Dragon Prince killed two lesbians and no one said a word, I bet She-Ra fans will forgive the creators everything. The Catradora drama is all about the debate if they count as sisters or not that could maybe be a point, and the fact that Catra is abusive and a villain, basically ignoring that that's the point of her character, she grew up in an abusive enviroment and now she is a bitch because of that until she gets her redemption arc, it isn't rocket science. Season 2 will define if the fandom manages to calm the fuck down or becomes the new toxic shithole, even more now that Steven Universe is basically done too, all these hate watchers need somewhere to go.
