I know awhile ago I was questioning Vinny's streaming burnout since it's a topic we frequently skim on here, but now I'm starting to think he needs a genuine break. He's thrown a lot more comments in his streams about him hating himself and being a bad human being, and I'm thinking the negative effects covid has on him personally are starting to spill more outwardly. That, and his content feels aggressively unfunny lately.

Not to say that he's gonna quit streaming forever anytime soon, but he could really use an actual break that isn't just 2 days in Wildwood.

Edit: Not really too sure on how the other streamers' content are doing the past couple of weeks. I haven't watched much of Joel since Meme House ended, and I'm too arsed to watch Rev or whoever else... except Direboar. He streamed Mario Party 2 for his birthday and ended up getting 4th place to easy com's iirc. Like, imagine dedicating 5 hours of your day to playing 50 turns of Mario Party 2, just to have the easy difficulty computers completely destroy you on your birthday. It was.... yeah.

I definitely agree about the burnout and the role that quarantine has played in Vinny's content (and Joel's too, honestly). Vinny could definitely use a good two weeks of no streams, sincerely, but I feel like he won't take that time of his own volition. More likely than not, someone's going to have to convince him to do it - he strikes me as the kind of guy who feels obligated to deliver, even if it's detrimental to him.

Joel, on the other hand, just seems bored. I won't doubt that he's probably got some stuff going on behind the scenes as well, but Vinny's definitely being much more transparent about it. In either case, I am in full agreement that their content seems to be a bit lacking. Sad, but hopefully they'll bounce back from it.

I watched that stream too, and I was sobbing laughing at how sad it was. He really lost to easy coms the entire fucking time. Really sad.

There was a bit of a situation in Mike's discord server.
New rule.png

The mods added a new rule against streaming in the server, it effectively removed vc entirely. They say it's because "moderating vc is difficult", apparently you are supposed to nanny all of your members, because they could say mean things or something.
The instant reaction was "why" "this makes no sense" "why is vc gone"
Instant reaction.png

One of the members was particularly fucked over with this, because he would do game nights with other members, a very common thing for losers people to do in discord while hanging out with others. because sure, you could DM people to join, but picture yourself as a discord user that doesn't really know the 500 or so members of a server. You'd be effectively stuck to voice chatting with people you already know.
its just too hard to nanny.png

Either way, this post seems like a load of nothing so far, but what really bothered me about this situation is how Mike singled out this member after he said he's in the server for the community
What actually pissed me off.png

I would complain about how the server is run, but I genuinely don't care, it's all full of trannies and utter losers. But Mike reacting like this gave me second hand embarrassment

I wonder how much of a role Etika's passing affected Vinny's state of mind. Last year when Etika died, Vinny mentioned that it hit him harder than he thought due to how many similarities they had with each other (similarly aged streamers with some community overlap and who both lived in New York). He then emphasizes the importance of disconnecting due to the stress of how everything you do is scrutinized online.

The most recent time I remember he brought up Etika was last month:

https://youtu.be/IzGLnC7sY6o?list=PLlc94szfcNDFPk_eId3P0A7GM-1zwVPut&t=2913

At 49:13, he once again reiterates the importance of taking breaks and doing what's best for you.

Etika's death is obviously tragic, but I imagine for a streamer like Vinny, it might have fucked with him a little more. This, combined with quarantine and general burnout, have probably taken its toll on him. I'm hoping Vinny can handle himself offstream.

Actually yeah, your discord goes byebye now if you don't jannie your faggots hard egnough. You're only safe if you are cozy with discord staff or none of your members are narcs and/or buttmad wanting revenge

Man, imagine calling people losers for using a social application to their benefit and having friends lol. If being a lonely neet is your thing, more power to you I guess.

Was that... not your entire post just now? Make it make sense. Mike's community has always been a dumpster fire, and it doesn't help that Buntime (Mike's GF) has any business modding his community, along with other leftovers of Vinny's community that've kissed Mike's ass over the years. I can understand why they got rid of streaming on the discord, but vc & group watch2gethers are what make servers more fun and personable imo, so that's a shame. Also Twibz is a literal dumbass for joining a server that he doesn't care about + complaining when he's called out on it by the owner of said server.

It's interesting how much of an impact Etika had on Vinny personally, even though they never really interacted all that much. Granted, losing a big name in the gaming community at a young age must have made him do a double take at his own mortality as one does when someone suddenly passes away. God forbid things escalate that far or damn near it for any of the streamers, let alone anyone in general.

It's very bizarre for Mike and his mod team to think that his fans streaming on his server is any kind of competition to his Twitch streams. He's splintering his fanbase by telling them to go make their own servers, that would be more damaging than simply letting it continue.

I also don't know if Mike was really being shitty in the message you posted. If there's a server made for a specific thing why would you want interlopers who don't even consume the specific thing? He phrased it super faggy and weird (as usual for him) but the idea behind it wasn't that weird.

How does Discord enforce amounts of moderation for servers anyway?

I use discord all the time, it was meant to be a joke, I'm sorry if it hit close to home

I said at the end that the post was about Mike's reaction, not on how the server is moderated, you'd know this if you read the 4th paragraph.

Completely agree, vc is what makes discord fun, and watch2gethers are really good at getting random people together to just have fun, like you know, a community would.

What are the chances Mike banned that user for not watching his streams religiously? I only watch Vinny and the rare Joel on certain occasions, so I have no clue who Mike is, but it seems he doesn't want to compete with fans or have an Joel situation in which one of the fans becomes more entertaining than the streamer themselves, to which they get invited to Vinesauce.

This I think is mostly out of reactions to chat and art being gross with the "uwu good boi" dreck, vin is keeping that in check while also being mopey due to covid and his natural personality. Better than pretending to be wholesome and getting Haywooded.

Is Mike a Discord partner? If the answer is no, he frankly shouldn't worry at all.

Discord has a number of fail-safes in place to ensure that the community created cannot sperg out and cause problems.

For example, you can limit what accounts can join; if they don't have 2FA enabled or an email attached for example. Considering he is a streamer, you can even gatekeep entry by locking it behind a paywall via Patreon or Twitch subscriptions via "Role" functions. You can prevent what text-channels allow for pictures to be posted or even if links can embed. Don't even get me started on word-filters, NSFW content scanning and a heap of commands you can enable via third party bot software.

Point I am trying to stress is that you don't need jannies on such a wide-scale when countless tools are available that do it, unbiased
