Sometimes joel falls for the whole self-deprecation thing.
It's really bothersome, and sometimes juvenile to just constantly call yourself unfunny/dumb/stupid, and it makes me sad that joel finds it difficult (sometimes) to take compliments.

The same happens with Mike, whenever a guest would start talking about him in a positive light he would always try moving away from that or just straight up turn it into something negative. It's clear he's got some self-hatred issues
I recall a particular instance where his friend Pussy, was talking about him as a person in his podcast, and Mike just bluntly stopped it with some rushed jokes, because he simply couldn't take a positive comment on him.
although I've seen a lot of progress with that, especially so when he streams with Fredrik Knudsen.

It's not that aggressive, but the fact that he a) read the comment at all, only to b) immediately dunk on the guy by saying "okay, I've lost interest"... that's pretty odd. He doesn't really strike me as the kind of person to publicly say something like that. The most obvious example I can think of with regard to him espousing a negative view of another streamer is V-Dub, which I think is a pretty obvious Dr. Disrespect parody (but also streamers who generally act like that), but even then I don't think he's ever explicitly said so. I can't remember any other occasion where he namedropped a content creator to insult them, even if it was something as understated as this.

On the other hand, I suppose it could also be an in-joke having to do with this Civvie guy. I really have no way of knowing - literally never heard of him until now. Either way, Vinny doesn't usually mention other game-related content creators outside of Vinesauce, except in positive ways (as previously stated), so I can see why this stuck out to you.

Yeah, I said myself that it might be a stretch. But I don't know anything about the Civvie dude at all, so if that's one thing he's notable for, that's the only connection I can think to draw as to why Vinny might not enjoy his content. But there's obviously a million other reasons, too.

Is it really that hard to believe that Vinny just didn't want to get into the unwarranted topic of talking about other Youtubers on his stream, and wanted to quickly move on from that? All this speculation is starting to become a bit too much for me.

I know this one hell of an autistic stretch, but from my foggy memory, Civvie was in support of the riots. He made a tweet months ago in the height of the riots where he joked about "where to send bail money since Minnesota is overwhelmed" or something. It caused a stir and he promptly deleted it after. There was a very brief discussion of it in the Happenings thread. I think Vinny just doesn't wanna associate himself with someone who's willing to cause trouble.

That, or it's just an inside joke. I remember there being a channel in-joke about how Civvie wouldn't do videos on games that GManLives already made videos on, but again, memory's foggy.

Civvie is known to be a be bit blunt and overtly political at times, only to back-peddle and delete things. He's a coward and lacks a spine, partly ashamed that a hefty part of his fanbase are 4chan types. Mandalore was apart of the 4chan vs Reddit Tribes Ascend bo5 series, Sseth is a well known /v/ meme. Even Vinesauce and PDP have history with the site. If all of these types can remain as apolitical as possible, what does that say about Civvie eh? He's a bleeding lefty.

No,that was Jen's iirc.
Just a conjecture, based only on the posts as I haven't seen the stream nor the archive of when this happened, but I think that the Civvie thing was just Vinny wanting to avoid beef, as both communities can be really infantile, as you already know.
I remember seeing some fans pretty much idolatrizing Civvie in the Blood's steam forums. Same goes for vinesauce's fans, but you know that already.
(which is sad, since both vinny and civvie seem good enough people, but I haven't interacted neither for long enough to know)
edit: I just heard the audio, disregard all I said. I think that it's just the usual case of not liking someone. Or maybe not wanting to talk about another that isn't from the vinesauce team,i don't know.

The people that come here (myself included) are extremely autistic. Everything Vinny and Joel do or say is heavily scrutinized and analyzed. I get frustrated that Joel takes these long breaks but I don't think it's because he's going to quit streaming, I just think he's a bit lazy. I don't think Vinny meant anything about the whole Civvie, he was just trying to Segway into the next game.

You should watch some of his videos, then. The rudeness is part of his character he plays in the show, although I do agree that some in his community can't seem to understand the difference between putting on an act for a youtube video and being genuinely a dickhead.

The only reason I speculated otherwise is because, if the issue was simply that Vinny doesn't like other Youtubers being mentioned, it would've been much easier for him to just... not read the comment out loud. Chat's basically in perma-slowmode due to the sheer number of messages coming in, and still it moves way too fast for him to keep up with - meaning that any time he reads a message from a chat member out loud, it's a cognizant decision, not a filler to keep the stream moving (since he no longer needs to do that). He actively chose to read that message and take a sarcastic tone in his response, and that's why I found it odd. It's really not that deep.
