Let me soap box for a sec. I grew up with this game. Like, we owned it on CD-ROM and everything, had the case for it. I never knew anyone else who played this or even mentioned it. But I loved it so much, not only for the parodies and games, but the art and just... making absolute fun of nerds. I liked Star Wars as a kid, but even this made me laugh and realize, "Holy shit, at least I'm not like these guys!". And even still, I bet someone who played this knew someone in their life like this.

Now, look at the comments on this vid. Look at how many manchildren are sobbing that it's "mean-spirited" and "boomer humor" and "cringe". Go back to Undertale and Homestuck, you fucking pissbabies. I can't stand how sensitive they all are, fuck.

I think part of the reason why this game's parodical nature escaped so many of those Youtube commenters' minds is because of that "boomer humor" thing, despite it not having anything to do with older generations. It seems to me that back in the 90's the concept of a fandom was exclusive to nerds and geeks. It's a part of the reason why the Comic Book Guy was a character in the Simpsons to begin with. I guess it's really one of those things that either you lived through it or you didn't. I don't know what compelled those people to whine about the game on that level, though.

Tell that to the chick that literally stalked Vin and his friends at a restaurant, then proceeded to SIT DOWN NEXT TO HIM without warning, lmfao. That, and that one time where a group of girls on tumblr that planned to go to his home address to say hi like 5 years ago (and many other invasive cases). Dudes got some real weirdos in his audience irl and online, and that’s putting it lightly.

Thanks for putting that btw. They’re more than likely a younger artist that might not fully realize why their art could make people cringe or grossed out in certain communities.

At this point, furry stuff is the least of my concern when it comes to weird members of the community— these days it’s people that either A). romanticize the streamers and put them on idol-esque pedestals, or B). make fanfics, shipping art, or forcing a sexuality/identity on a real person. And yes, I’m aware that furries are capable of making the latter content as well, but it seems more prevalent in late teen/early 20’s viewers that don’t identify with that crowd. Either way, keep it off the booru or off the internet as a whole.
 
On the topic of creepy fans fetishising Vinny and Joel, I once browsed the Vinesauce tag of Ao3 for a laugh. Most of it was badly written Wattpad level smut clearly made by teen girls but I also found quite possibly the most disturbing piece of depravity ever written about them. It's a very graphic gore fetish fic which involves Vinny raping Joel and beating his face in with an ice cream scoop, attempting to cook and eat him and then they both die horribly in a car crash. Read at your own risk.

The account appears to be abandoned and this is the only story ever posted on it. Don't know if that makes it more or less concerning.

edit: With a little investigation I found out that the author had been writing gore and violent rape stories like this since they were 12 but has since stopped. Please don't harass them, seems like just an especially messed up kid not a more sinister individual.

That booru account was made 3 days ago, so I have a feeling it's someone who lurked here and decided to go to that art specifically.
Anyways, looking at that insta I noticed some comments where they complained about their art being too "spicy" for the booru and complaining about the mods. So if they keep that sort of behavior up, they'll get yeeted off the booru, surely.

In fairness, this is a Kiwi Farms thread where we've already catalogued Vinny's full name and address, as well as talked at length about his private affairs and dirty laundry (or what little we know of). So I can imagine he probably views us the same as those teenage girls, and probably even worse since most of us here are well into our 20s and 30s. (Or so I presume.)

My friends and I also do this once in a blue moon for the laugh factor, on both AO3 and Wattpad, and inexplicably, there's a pretty sizable chunk of fanfiction involving Vinny and/or Joel raping the reader-insert, sometimes after slipping them a roofie. That's mostly contained to Wattpad, but the sheer number of stories we found with that basic premise was genuinely disturbing. You don't have to do much digging to find those, either - we were able to do so just by searching "vinesauce." It's a bizarre segment of the Vinesauce fanbase that I would gladly pay to have permanently scrubbed from my memory.

Ironically, this loops back in application to Vinesauce - Imakuni had (has?) a stalker well before her channel reached the numbers that it has now, and he even tried to get the Farms to dox her so that he could continue creeping on her. To my understanding, he was unsuccessful because - and I say this with love - Imakuni just isn't worth doxxing. She's a moderately-known niche streamer with a pretty harmless internet presence, and it was clear that the guy had a personal vendetta instead of it being a lolcow situation, so everyone just told him to fuck off.

And again, that's just Imakuni, whose follower count makes up not even a quarter of Vinny's. Imagine what kind of fuckery Vinny's had to deal with, as he's passed 10 years of streaming and is nearing 500k followers just on his Twitch channel. The girl who stalked Vinny to his lunch with his friends is easily one of the freakiest things I can imagine happening to a person (sans any physical or emotional trauma, obviously), and it's just the one example that we know of - there must be countless more that aren't public knowledge.

Vinny was one of the most accessible and communicative streamers available for a really long time, and while that definitely gave his streams and videos a unique feeling that I think ultimately contributed to him taking off, it also hurt him because it blurred the lines between friend and fan. Not his fault, of course, but I definitely think he was resistant to the realization that he had to modify the way he approached streaming and his fanbase for too long. He didn't want to moderate the chat or regulate people's fun, I get that - but unfortunately, that mindset led to a lot more of this creepy business than I think would've happened if he'd nipped that kind of invasive behavior in the bud in, say, 2013.

I guess I'm just biased but if I imagine myself in this situation I'd have a way easier time shrugging off people who dig up my dirty laundry to mock me for their amusement compared to people who'd write creepy fanfics of me and my friends.
