If you think that's bad, don't make the same mistake that I did and join the Vinesauce shroomposting FB group. It started kinda ok, but now it's a absolute cespit of people fanboying over Vinny and Joel to a point it's makes you uncomfortable to even read it. And if you wanna see how bad it really is, click on ANY of the member profiles there and you know exactly why I always, ALWAYS turn chat off if I watch a VOD or Vinny live.

It still makes me wonder what kind of psychological condition one should have to consider funny voices from Twitch to be their friends, or worse, someone more intimate, rather that mere entertainers they are, like stand-up comedians or radio hosts.
It really comes down to loneliness. Some people really rely heavily on streamers for emotional comfort and support, to where they might even convince themselves that they're meant to be friends with a streamer or more than that. I know we've touched this subject on this thread briefly before, but we only know so much about the streamers from what they've presented to us on stream or via tweets/reddit posts etc. Not to say that Joel or Vinny could be a totally different person offline than they are online, but we're only seeing the best attributes out of the streamers and youtubers we watch, and some people get really attached to the idea of someone they've never met irl. It's actually a really interesting concept if you think about it, though still really sad.

What's crazy about that page is that those people have zero issues with their legal full name being attached to a Vinesauce-stan Facebook group. There's legit grown dudes with gfs posting shit like "not saying i'm gay, but i'd let vinny shove his spaghetti noodle in my canolli hole" on that page. Super fucking weird if you ask me.

Julian's still a pussy bitch, from what I saw of the drama. His feelings would resonate with me more if there wasn't the contrast between what he's saying, and the actions he performed. Anyways, yeah, that Vinny drawing is creepy, albeit well drawn. Vargfren and Oney's avatar are caricatures, so they're fine to draw in that sort of way cutesy way, but that shit in the drawing is just Vinny. Terrible. Word of advice; if you can, tell the people who draw that shit to cut it out, via email or twitch or whatever.

Fuck, power level, but I never realised me and Joel have the same birthday, fucking weird man. GTA IV was great, got some serious old Vinesauce vibes from it, chat got pretty ACAB though. Also Joel unintentionally recreates “I cant breathe”, if I find a clip I’ll post it.

You're absolutely right, man. A green blob with a smiley face is not Joel, but that other drawing is indeed meant to represent Vinny. I don't think it would be a problem if it was a cutesy Vineshroom and such, but, welp. And also, I don't think it is "thinkin' them as friends" but more like their "unproblematic favs" (because how dare you to commit mistakes on the internet) they desperately crave. People putting them in pedestals, must be really weird for them

I agree. Trying to paint your favorite streamer as being wholesome or unproblematic is just going to cause a lot of problems later, if said person ends up making some very human mistakes or their views end up not aligning with yours. Anytime I see Vinesauce brought up when comparing content creators to someone controversial and then stated to be "wholesome and pure", I cringe.

I personally love how "unwholesome" my funny streamer men are.

Agreed. I've had people ask me to recommend them "unproblematic" streamers or Youtubers and have to hit them with the bad news - these are all real people, so it's a pretty safe bet that they've done or said some fucked up stuff over the years. If one doesn't learn to accept that, one ends up in a constant cycle of finding a favorite "unproblematic" streamer -> fave streamer says/does something shitty -> completely disowning that fave streamer and trying to find another one to latch onto -> finding another favorite "unproblematic" streamer. So on and so forth. That shit gets tiring, man.

I just find it particularly perplexing in the case of Vinesauce given how different its origins are from where it's ended up. I could understand a bit more if the content creator was someone who got started off of a platform like Tumblr, where you would expect them to be well-versed in this kind of thing and therefore be less likely to make some really bad mistakes, but at least half of the Vinesauce team (and certainly Vinny and Joel in particular) got their start on 4chan. Call me crazy, but I find it a bit unreasonable to expect them to have zero "problematic" moments in their history given how long they've been streaming and where they got started.

I want Joel and/or Vinny to say something problematic already so that the uwu wholesome people can go away. A good purge is needed I think.

I don't want this because it will just bring an apology and then talking about politics trying to get back on the "right side of history"

man vs game got hooked on meth had a big haitusapologywhatever, now he just debates christians about the big bang instead of playing the game he has paused, it fucking sucks.

I believe they already said more than enough of that in 2010-2014, when they still were somewhat underground. And they aren't that dumb to loose such lucrative source of income for just playing videogames while saying funny things. As long as they aren't pandering to crowds of you-know-who it's fine, anyone can still be funny without saying "niggеr".

Ah yea I guess it wouldn't be great in the long run. It's not like I'm wanting them to drop n bombs all the time like total edgelords. I just get the vibe that they walk on eggshells sometimes and it'd be nice if they didn't have to do that. But yea, I guess thinking about it, that'd just make them have to walk on eggshells even more lol

Am I the only one who is bothered by this kind infantilization of streamers? There's no need to baby them like this; They're fully grown-ass adults like yourself. Actually, I don't know if I'd rather prefer these types of artists be adults or minors.
I feel like the artist missed a golden opportunity for a John Lennon love and peace joke

Those in that FB group can you share some of your best of the worst?

Parasocial relationships are a hell of a drug. Like someone said it's loneliness and no social life outside of social media. The only possible good thing is that the majority of them would never encounter their faves in person

Some of Joel's birthday art is... weird. That magenta-colored one where chat is going "hip hip hurray!" and he's got yellow eyes with BLUE eyeshines (for some fucking bizarre reason) weirds me out.

EDIT:

Also, holy fucking shit. I just now saw this.

Let me soap box for a sec. I grew up with this game. Like, we owned it on CD-ROM and everything, had the case for it. I never knew anyone else who played this or even mentioned it. But I loved it so much, not only for the parodies and games, but the art and just... making absolute fun of nerds. I liked Star Wars as a kid, but even this made me laugh and realize, "Holy shit, at least I'm not like these guys!". And even still, I bet someone who played this knew someone in their life like this.

Now, look at the comments on this vid. Look at how many manchildren are sobbing that it's "mean-spirited" and "boomer humor" and "cringe". Go back to Undertale and Homestuck, you fucking pissbabies. I can't stand how sensitive they all are, fuck.
