He did, actually. He lost some progress on a chapter, and he didn't really feel like playing through it again just to get back where he was before. I'd imagine that doing that sort of stuff would be much more of a chore in VR compared to KB/M. Also, you know, the whole breaking glass stuff.

VR is still a gimmick, especially for FPS games, in my opinion. The only good gaming application on VR that I can find is for racing games (and maybe flight sim as well).

God, that breaking glass moment was hysterical. VR is a danger to our livelihood...

Really, though, it sucks that he dropped it but I can understand. I know he was excited for the new Half Life game, but I think he was probably just as disappointed as anyone that it was done in VR and I think that ruined some of his interest in it. Hopefully he will eventually pick it up again, but we'll see.
 
I think so cause I remeber Joel posting his elaborate layout changes "blueprint" yet in the end he still broke stuff lol
 
Aww, Joel gave up on Alyx? Did he upload the stream where he talked about it on YouTube? I must have missed something, I only watch his YouTube uploads and I think I end up missing a lot.
 
From what I understand, he quit playing Alyx because chat was giving him an extremely hard time over puzzle-solving.

I knew that the “Death by Grilled Cheese” was in that mod for some time (one of my favorites of that mod), but I wasn’t aware of the fact that you could crush other sims to death with the force of your booty.
 
I just watched Joel's last Alyx stream that he didn't upload to YouTube. It looks like the final straw was not being able to start the level he was playing over. During the last Alyx segment he was really tired and fucked up a bunch, wasted a ton of ammo and wasn't really paying attention to the story so he forgot it. Hopping back in he found out that if he wanted to replay it, he'd have to start the whole game over pretty much. So he said he'd do so off-stream and presumably hasn't done so yet. He was also pretty frustrated at it and didn't sound like he was having a good time. Sucks!

I hope Joel does more VR, his VR content is hilarious. He has such a knack for physical comedy.
