Yeah, he's gotten real big into Jerma lately, Simpleflips before that. Are there any other streamers I'm forgetting that Joel's become enamored with?

It's really strange, whenever he's doing a Co-op stream with another Streamer he basically turns into that person for a while.

It doesn't really make sense to me because Joel doesn't seem that lonely considering how he's hanging out with some of his mods in Sweden and regularly has that American guy over at his place.

I think he just genuinely respects and tries to emulate the other streamers he streams with. Like, he's not shy about sucking Simple and Jerma's dicks. It's adorable in a way, and I can definitely relate to wanting to emulate people you respect.

That or Joel is a body snatcher and is trying to replicate them. Which, based on the stickiness of some of his earlier streams, wouldn't surprise me.

It's hard not to adapt to the sense of humor of your audience, even if that "audience" is just a friend who jokes differently than you. This is pretty easy to see with Vinny, too, in the very rare co-op streams he does. Any stream between him and Imakuni is a perfect example, but especially their Animal Crossing: New Leaf stream - Imakuni has such an infectious, bubbly energy that it even rubs off on Vinny, and he is audibly in a much better mood than is normal for his streams.

I think the same can be said for Joel, and it probably doesn't hurt that he seems to genuinely like Jerma and Simpleflips, too. It makes it a lot easier for him to get more in their headspace and vibe better with their sense of humor. There's a reason why their co-op streams tend to be some of the most viewed in spite of their rarity, and I definitely think that's a big part of it.

Joel's early streams definitely play out like an alternate universe where Young Vinny got really into Metalocalypse and cigarettes, and it's undeniable that he had some kind of platonic hard-on for Vinny for a few years there. Even so, I do have to appreciate his candidness in showing off his friends to the audience; it doesn't feel like a plug to me, so much as a "guys guys look at my new friend omg isn't he cool!!! I love my new buddy!!"

The fact that Joel is, to my knowledge, not affiliated with any larger companies (like Vinny apparently is) reasserts to me that he just streams with the people he likes and doesn't really bother to hide his affection for them. It's very genuine, and yes, very adorable.

If anyone wants some nostalgia, I found the old autopilot playlist from the livestream days.

Fuck, I completely forgot about Corridors of Darkholme (the very first video in the playlist). I used to listen to it all the time and it always made my day. Thanks for unearthing this; looks like I've got some relistening to do!

Awesome. I never got to experience any of this myself, so it's always cool to see stuff from the old days.

Goddamn do I miss the unfiltered insanity of the Chatango chat.

EDIT: another vid (feat. some interesting comments by Vinny)

Holy crap, great find! There's so little left of vinesaucevidya in terms of pre-Twitch content that managing to get anything at all is amazing.

On a similar note, the channel these videos were uploaded to seems to be pretty popular; do you think it could be an old streamer, or simply a former chat member who got popular on their own terms? I don't recognize the channel's name, nor their voice from other videos.

And another one.

Well well, what do we have here? An unlisted video?

Does anyone recognize the forum this is on? I doubt it’s still around by now but it would be a neat find.

edit: Oh it’s the old Vinesauce forum. I’m dumb.

Ahh, the memories of sitting in Chatango and waiting for another streamer to come on while watching the autopilot... when times were simple. There's videos in here that I honestly haven't seen since then, like Hose Leg and Cinco Face, and it's super weird thinking about how much has changed. I remember Fred and KY being around a lot in chat during those times.

If you ever want a real blast from the past, looking up the vinesaucevidya domain on the wayback machine or looking at old archived forum posts on vinesauce circa 2014 makes for a pretty unique experience. I found the link from their original blogspot (lol) from peeping at the archives: http://vinesaucevidya.blogspot.com

It's weird how changing circumstances force one to adapt and alter their belief system. This is a relatively small thing, of course, and I know that he really had no choice but to alter his streaming style given how much he blew up years after this post was made, but it's still a shock to remember how differently he operated back then.

Drama is one thing; I know that's unavoidable in a community as large as his. But his approach to chat in particular is completely opposite now than it used to be. I wonder if there was a particular trigger for him needing to switch to a moderated chat, or if it was merely a gradual progression where he eventually said "enough is enough." I'm sure his changing sense of humor is a huge part of it, too - young Vinny definitely had a mid 2000s /v/ edginess to his comedy that I think he's matured from over the years, thus why he doesn't allow those kinds of jokes anymore. It's just really fascinating to compare the past and present and see how different he is now. (Though I guess becoming 10 years older will do that to a person!)

Just searching “Vinesaucevidya” in google led me to this video.

Uploader said they would upload the other parts but unfortunately it seems this was the last video they uploaded 9 years ago.

EDIT: Boys I think I just hit the motherlode.

Currently waiting for joel to get out of his shit game playing mood and go back to interesting stuff like the sims series and signal simulator.
Yeah, I've been thinking about taking a break for a while too (like I'm doing with Vinny's stuff because he's been boring for months now). Coming back in a few months or so, there'd only be pros. He either streamed something enjoyable and I'll get to watch multiple parts of it or he hasn't and then I'll probably drop Vinesauce until next year or so.

I guess we're all kinda addicted to funny Swedish man, or just feel like our time investment should pay off like back then.

Page 66 of the thread turned into Nostalgia Trip simulator 66.

I miss it a bit too.
On a side note, I like how chatango's chat is everything discord tried to be but fails to do. That degree of customization is something that only chatango and another web chat has. I really wonder why they won't add it (although I think to know the answer already.)

Does the discord or any worthwhile alt still exist? I miss this shit but do not miss this hellhole.
check the old messages lol.
But I agree with you: The official discord\vinecord is a hellhole. and the "vinesauce hell" fan discord is even more retarded now that the fb group has changed admins (as far as I know)

Bloody hell this is giving me so much nostalgia. That's why I (like most of you) miss the 'old times'.
He's changed a lot.
Also, the autopilot was fucking amazing. I wish twitch and mixer had such feature.
there are so many things that the new programs still miss, like skype's "find friend" or ts3's server browser, which discord was said to include but never did. I wish that they'd add these little things that made those old programs pretty good, instead of reselling as extras for money whales claiming that no one ever had the audacity of thinking something that innovative while we can find claims of the opposite. even in games, games with dedicated servers are now almost a novelty, voice chat is becoming increasingly less common....

The Vinesauce Hell fb group was super weird to peek at a few years ago. Are there still straight dudes saying they'd dump their gfs for Joel/Vinny in the comments still? If anyone has any experiences in that group or in the discord, I'd love to hear how much of a shitshow it was. Not that its relevant to Vinesauce currently, but just for my own amusement and that facebook "stans" are another breed of creepy. :)
