I'm surprised Joel isn't more popular to be honest. I don't think there is a stream that has me laugh more than his. Feels sometimes like he's a comedian playing video games. His E3 streams are magical.

I'm honestly ecstatic about getting to watch him stream E3 again this year. It's my favorite way to celebrate that clusterfuck. I wish he would make compilation videos for his E3 streams, cause they're glorious.

As for why Joel is less popular, I think a few things contribute to it:
- He doesn't play mainstream games very often; most of what he plays are either fan games, indie games, older games, or just really niche games. It's harder to get attention when people are only searching for popular games on Twitch.
- He takes streaming way less seriously and doesn't do things like thanking subscribers or donors. I really appreciate this personally, but fans who want that recognition are going to be turned off by that. He definitely retained the pre-Twitch style of streaming, and not everyone likes it.
- His sense of humor is REALLY esoteric and makes reference to some ancient/incredibly niche jokes and memes, which a lot of people don't get (like Gachi, as a prime example).
- He definitely didn't start "late," but he did start after Vinny, and Vinny is obviously the face of Vinesauce. It's difficult to become more well-known than the guy who literally gave you your job.

All that said, Joel's still doing pretty well for himself - he has more than 200,000 followers, and has started some memes that have extended even outside the bounds of his channel, which is a hard feat to accomplish. But I'm also biased toward him because he's my favorite, too. Been watching his stuff since 2011 and everything he does is pure gold. Him, Vinny, and Rev were the only streamers I was really ever able to get into even after all this time.

I'm going to watch more of Joel's streams, the few I have been in whereas pleasant as Mike's (before the trenders took it over)

I do wish I was there live during his DK64 and Luigi's Mansion streams cause I tend to watch those on repeat on the full streams channel. And the DJ Markiloo stream seemed like fun too.

While Rev IS slightly popular with the SJW crowd, he and when he streams with Mike's streams are always fun especially the flash game and "bad" game streams. the chat (and when I was in it Discord) is chill, no drama.

Currently watching the VOD of Joel's EA play stream, and there's an interesting moment around 17:20 where someone asked Joel why he wasn't co-streaming E3 with Vinny, and Joel responded with, "I don't think Vinny wants to do that." It was an odd remark by itself, but then right after, he says, "I don't know, ask him" in a weird tone. It kind of sounded like he wanted to ask Vinny that himself but was nervous to do it, and so tried to casually suggest that chat do it for him, knowing that the chance of someone actually asking Vinny to co-stream with him would be pretty high.

It reminded me of this observation I made a few weeks ago:
In their most recent crossover stream (Smash Ultimate, I think), Vinny mentioned that they don't talk very often and that it had been quite some time since they'd had a real conversation, which is a strange thought given that Vinny gave Joel his job and that Joel apparently really admired Vinny even before he joined Vinesauce.

I forgot to mention it then, but in that stream, Vinny mentions explicitly that it was Joel who contacted him and reopened the conversation after quite some time of their not speaking one-on-one. All of this together lends some credence to my bullshit theory that Vinny and Joel don't get along very well outside of their professional lives, and more specifically, that it's a one-way issue - Joel seems to like Vinny, but I don't think Vinny really likes Joel. That's obviously all conjecture, but even so, it's kind of fascinating to think about.

I honestly think Joel is just sick of people asking him to do shit with Vinny. There was a audio test stream at like 5 AM that only lasted about a half hour one time. There were probably only about 300-500 people so Joel was talking pretty actively with chat. Someone mentioned Joel doing something because Vinny did and Joel did his usual "haha maybe" non-answer. I posted something like "No, Joel, you need to do everything thst Vinny does, make music together and have all the same emotes!" with a kappa or whatever and Joel read it aloud and laughed for a long time and said "You get it, I like you" or something similar.

Reading back on this, this kind of looks like me bullshitting lol, but I swear this all actually happened. I was really disappointed he didn't leave the vod up because I'm fucking pathetic and I like relistening to when someone reads my comments.

I think Joel likes doing shit with Vinny but also gets frustrated when people harp on him constantly to do things. He's said before he prefers to stream solo aside from rare co-op streams, as well.

You and me both, man. One time Joel responded to me three times in the same stream and I was definitely way happier about it than I should've been.

That's a fair point, and it makes sense since most of the Vinesauce streamers now stream solo primarily. It's probably just too much of a hassle to schedule things together, make sure audio quality doesn't get fucked by bad VC clients, etc. I do still think he was feigning a non-committal response to the idea of co-streaming E3 with Vinny, but now I'm thinking there's a stronger likelihood that Joel just didn't want to make it too obvious that he would rather stream by himself.

Listen, when Vinny streamed Soulcalibur 6, he inspired me to make custom characters, and I definitely watched all the matches, like, 3 times, both for his and chat's reaction.

That's Joel, and Vinny LOVES streaming alone. Streaming co-op disturbs his flow for most of the things he streams.

Anyone have any tall tale about Vinecraft?

Does anyone remember the fake rivalry between Rev and Joel?

But IMO I think Vinny might be more annoyed at the memes that are associated with Joel that get spammed in chat (Tho I would take LE GRAND DAD EXDEE over trans pride emoji spam)

It’s thanks to Joel that I got into MDickie’s games. Had lotsa fun with HardTime.

It’s because of him I gave older games a chance and can appreciate the past if I can’t play it at all. Plus it’s fun hearing him talking about his passions and watching him make that Beefzone song was actually pretty insightful because FL Studio/GarageBand is like quantum physics to me
And I like that his sense of humour is mostly sanitary, not mean spirited and not forced. It’s weird without being totally insular where you have to understand 5 levels of memeing and in-jokes or references to get it.

So how was Vinny's chat during E3? Joel's was great. You of course have your faggots here and there, spamming pride hearts every time Megacorp 45 panders to them or posting "YIKES" when chat laughs at some stupid freak paraded out to appeal to the woke crowd. Seeing those comments be drowned in a sea of "PEEPER" and actual humans recognizing tactless pandering when they see it is incredibly satisfying.

btw ghostwire lady is my waifu now, get your own

I love Vinny a lot more than I do Joel sometimes. It's that Vinny usually has that sardonic sense of humor but Joel appealed to a more juvenile side of me. I dunno. I like Vinny's outbursts of emotions like him laughing like an animal because it's so unexpected. I remember catching his Revengeance stream and that was the best time I've ever had. I don't hate Joel, I catch his streams sometimes, but I feel like Vinny appeals to me a bit more.

Anyways, V-Sauce thread, who's your favorite underrated Vinesauce streamer?

I don't mind Fred during charity streams. And a few years ago Jen seemed chill during animal crossing WW and harvest moon 64 streams. I dunno what she's like now.

And the co-op animal crossing Imakuni did with Vinny was pretty fun.

But the only woman streamer I watch usually is Lucahjin. (and her lets plays too)
