And the booru is already full of "vinny says trans rights! uwu" mouthpiece "art"
Such as Vinny's FPS alter ego V dub with "gay/trans rights! uwu" and one for rev's DR with Monokuma as a mouthpiece...

Yeah I am not looking forward to the charity stream, the trenders are likely going to kill it and force Vinny to donate to some scammy "trans kids" "charity"

Has Joel engaged in any autism outside of being forced to apologize for his helicopter jokes?

I don't follow the guy on social media since I don't use it, but I've been watching him pretty religiously for about a year now and he hasn't really done anything to upset the screechers aside from being a white male. I mean, everything is a microaggression but nothing helicopter-like has happened.

Joel fucking hates conflict/controversy and the whole attack helicopter thing probably embarrassed and frustrated him to the point that he censors himself extremely well. Though something about males being unable to get pregnant recently came up (long story) and we all know how basic biology is evil these days. I doubt anything will come of it though.

Vinny is a very impassive lad. He clearly is also a bit genuinely fucked in the head due to the whole catholic school stuff, working at a bank in New York, which i can only imagine is the closest thing to hell in the USA and he's simply someone who doesn't want to get involved. In his own words; he's not the principal at a school. Yet, that logic doesn't work when you're a streamer who has a community. You HAVE to take responsibility. Not for every little thing, but certainly the more important matters. If you don't, things will get worse.

That’s kinda what I like about Joel, he’s smart enough to never be anything more than the Vinesauce professional shitposter. He doesn’t seem like he’d care enough to ramble about Drumpf, I think he’s even stated that he thought the outrage surrounding the 2016 election was funny

Let's be honest, the fans who are these crazy transtrender sjw types - are probably not the ones paying toward these guys making a living. So really, you'd think the streamers would feel a little more power in regards to telling them to fuck off. Just look how popular Oney and crew is - they don't seem to care about being offensive or whatever and it's honestly part of their appeal. Plus they don't have to deal with or rely on subs / donations from easily-upset troons etc.
As much as I like Joel and Vinny etc, I kinda wish they grew a backbone. It must be hell to be looking over your shoulder during every stream.

Absolutely agreed. Guy knows exactly what his niche is and lives there proudly.

He would get really basic bitch political back in like 2015, saying things like "haha Trump stupid" but it really seemed like "hey fellow kids" more than any actual personal investment. He even straight up said Trump would win at one point, and lo and behold.

Nowadays Joel is a real life version of the "Virgin vs. Chad" Chad. The "introverted normie vs. wacky lunatic" one, not the "thing I like vs. thing I hate" ones.

Disclaimer: I obviously don't really think Vinny is nearly this bad. All the Joel stuff is 100% true with no exaggeration though.

Virginsauce
  • Plays boring, modern "relevant" games because poorfag fans want to see the latest releases without paying
  • Promises games and then plays them even if he doesn't want to, people complain that he isn't excited enough about them
  • Tries (and fails) to be funny with the latest memes from Twitter or other social media
  • Have fakedeep talks about opinion and emotions with chat and acts as a surrogate friend to pathetic fanbase
  • Begrudgingly tolerates latest political fads to avoid losing fans
  • Apologizes like a bitch for loud noises and flashing colors
Chadskelethor
  • Plays shit literally no one has heard of for 8 hours straight just to brag about it, plays literal waiting game for the same amount of time just to prove he can
  • Doesn't even play games he says he's going to because he gets caught up playing Uno or some dumb shit, people love it anyway
  • Humor consists of saying "butt" in a funny voice and it works, regularly transforms into a howler monkey live on stream
  • Has actual deep conversations about Thai buffets and gay wrestling
  • Blatantly ignores or bans political discussion because he doesn't want to interrupt his shitposting
  • Openly abuses his audience with painfully loud noises and flashing lights and they beg for more

It's very good for the Vinesauce brand that the two of them are so different. Watching Joel's chat being unleashed on other streamers during charity week like a pack of rabid hyenas is funny as fuck, too. Maybe it's a sign of me hitting "dad humor" age when I think stupid noises and words are funnier than actual jokes.

Sounds like Vinny’s mainly the spineless one, joel’s just a jolly shitposter who likes chinese bootlegs, weird mods, weird indie games and shovelware

He did it, the absolute madman! He enabled r9k in his chat (temporarily, presumably) to combat children out of school, message spam, and most importantly, emote spam. I wonder if he'll get shat on for that, because people wouldn't be able to shit up the chat with pride and other garbage easily.

IMO, Joel's too jolly, to the point of acting juvenile, which started to turn me off at some point. And why I understand the accusation of Vinny being spineless, there is a distinct possibilty of him actually enjoying playing this 4D chess with his audience. I don't think you'd want to deal with a large amount of what is an equivalent of a suicide bomber head-on, not in his position.

P.S. I'm watching a fresh VOD right now and he just flipped chat off in a fashion I haven't heard him do in years. Which is still passive aggressive, but a lot more on the aggressive side. One can only wonder...

If I was to be a streamer I'd want to be a streamer like Aris who has free reign to tell his chat to fuck off whenever he wants without backlash. I sometimes wonder if Aris is way smarter than he lets on or if he just accidentally falls into a community like his own because of his personality. Vinny on the other hand created a community around being nice to each other and that can backlash. Though it also helps that his community is devoted as they are because they create a shit ton of content for him.

It's not fair to call Vinny spineless. He doesn't want to lose his job and go back to being miserable. I'd personally call what he is doing as smart.

Vinny or Joel?

due to the whole catholic school stuff
There was that one time where Vinny himself had to personally post a rant on a fullsauce video because some Catholic viewers were offended about some slight about Noah's Ark

Never seen him did that before

This is most likely true for Joel too. For less popular streamers, it matters much less whether or not they share their political views or go off on the chat for being shitty. They may lose some followers, but whatever, they can always gain more, or they can just rock with the number they have. It doesn't affect the channel or their lives very much. You can see that with old Vinesauce videos too - both Joel and Vinny were way quicker to the draw when it came to keeping chat in line, and they had a much higher tendency to make dumb jokes like the attack helicopter thing. They had nothing to lose; streaming was just a hobby for them. (And also humor was different then, but I digress.)

That's not the case for people whose entire livelihood is based around their channel, though. When you get big enough, your audience members have a much wider range of views and opinions, and you have to try and sate as many of them as you can, because this time, it DOES affect your life when you start losing viewers en masse.

As an example - if you only have 1,000 followers and maybe 10 subs, you probably won't be losing much if you make an offensive joke. Maybe you'll get knocked down to 900, or maybe one or two subs will drop, but that's not a huge loss because you didn't have much to begin with. But if you have 100,000 followers and 10,000 subs, and you get knocked down to 9,000 subs, that's a pretty noticeable blow. That's at least $5000 down the drain, all because you made some off-hand joke that probably wasn't that funny anyway. Why risk your entire career over something so stupid?

As much as I like Joel and Vinny etc, I kinda wish they grew a backbone. It must be hell to be looking over your shoulder during every stream.

If memory serves, Vinny now streams full-time and doesn't work a day job. I'm going to assume Joel's situation is the same, given the weird hours he streams at, and the fact that I haven't heard him mention his other job in many years. By my rough guesstimate, both Joel and Vinny probably make at least $100,000 from their subscribers, and likely more if people are paying more than the low tier $4.99 or gifting subs to others (and I have definitely seen that happen more than once, in pretty high quantities - one time it was so much that Joel got flustered and just kept saying "wow that's a lot of money"). All they have to do to keep earning that money is spout some dumb memes, play some terrible games for a few hours, and then wait for the cash to roll in.

So by "growing a backbone," you essentially mean that they should flip shit on their clientele, the people who make up their main source of income, and risk losing the brand they've spent years building up and the quality of life they now have. So the question becomes - do you put your whole job on the line to soapbox, or do you suck it up and just keep plowing through and making your money? I think the answer's pretty obvious. It's much easier for them to just ignore chat for a few hours than it is for them to take some kind of self-righteous stand and risk getting stuck back in their old, shitty jobs.

Though again, aren’t most of the spineless complaints usually lobbed at Vinny, Joel seems relatively apolitical in his stuff

Vinny and Joel both consider their streams apolitical and don't like to talk about political stuff much, so I think the same problem applies to both of them. Even refusing to talk about politics at all is a sort of defense mechanism against the exact problem I outlined; you can't lose followers because of your opinions if you don't state them at all.

Plus, early Joel was very much NOT "apolitical," as he now claims to be, and neither was Vinny - if you watch some of their older videos, especially the pre-Twitch ones, they can be heard spouting beliefs and offensive jokes that were common for the time. It's a theory of mine that they both had to make the switch once their Twitch streams started getting really lucrative (probably around 2014 for Vinny and around 2015 for Joel).

Wasn't/isn't Joel like center-right or something?

Wasn't/isn't Joel like center-right or something?

That's probably the most accurate way to describe him, though it seems like he's more center than right. Vinny, by contrast, is probably center-left. I'm sure their beliefs have changed over the years, but neither one of them is particularly keen on making that public.
