I absolutely despise how he refuses to step out of his comfort zone when it comes to music. He listens to guys like Fantano and others, but openly admits to refusing to listen to any new music besides "what he already likes".
I don't think you're entirely correct. He's done a stream discussing his top 100 favorite albums, and while they can mostly be put under the very broad umbrella of "rock music" I'd still argue that it's reasonably varied: [Vinetalk] Vinny's Top 100 Albums (of the Moment)
He's also talked about albums that didn't make his top 100 but still cared enough to mention them, some stuff I wasn't expecting was Kraftwerk and Isaac Hayes: [Vinetalk] Vinny's Favorite Albums that didn't make it to his Top 100
And if you're curious, someone has compiled a list of songs and albums he's mentioned on stream, and after having scrolled through it I think it should at least be enough to dispel the notion that he ONLY EVER listens to old rock music: Vinesauce - Vinny's Recommended Music

By the way, does anyone know where that Snoic Generatans game came from? It seems to have appeared out of the ether from pure spite and hatred, so it's entirely possible someone made that out of self loathing AND to make Vinny hate himself.https://youtube.com/watch?v=Dok66g_gB4U
People really think this is "traumatizing", I genuinely don't understand how people watching the stream can be so overactive. Also the Sunky guy about to sperg out in the comments section, lol.

The more I think about it, it honestly feels Vinny is one of those people that absolutely can't stand change in any way, shape, or form. He only listens to music from old bands and the musicians from that era that still do stuff. He has a certain jadedness to most modern games as opposed to ones from his childhood, even going as far as to be THOSE people that hate when they make any minor changes in remasters/remakes. And most of the media he does follow is once again just stuff he remembers enjoying when he was young. Like there is thinking things used to be so much better when you were younger, and then there is refusing to move along with the times.
i think that's a little shortsighted. sure his favorites that he talks about consistently are pink floyd, led zeppelin, queen, the beatles etc. but he also listens to new gorillaz whenever they come out with a new song or album.
i personally do not expect him to like their recent output at all, on account of the fact that it's slowly headed into a contemporary pop direction, but his opinion on it surprises me every time, as he seems to enjoy it.

i believe it's a matter of what he likes to listen to vs. what his favorites are. he's aware that decent modern music is out there and will listen to it and appreciate it when he discovers it (he seems to have become a big fan of tame impala since lonerism came out), but at the end of the day he'll prefer to listen to music from the artists he's already well acquainted with, and ends up incorporating that into conversation on stream later.

as for the fantano thing, i have no idea where him "listening to fantano" came from. if his takes on undertale and anime are pointing to anything, it's the fact that he's more likely to not listen to him.

Gee, you don't say.

he used to mention watching fantano, but he probibly stopped when we all did. He switched to Beato for a bit, and that guy is a bit of a redditor in his own right, but does have legit music chops and studio knowledge

While stuff like the FF7 Remake do come to mind, I'm more talking about more lightweight remakes that at most change the music, graphics, and MAYBE change a gameplay aspect people openly complain about.
Those changes you’re listing are worse than FF7 style remakes, because FF7R isn’t trying to be a “definitive replacement” for the original. It’s a different game that’s just being called FF7, and Square has made original FF7 readily available on the same platforms, with improvements that don’t overwrite it.

Did Johnny seriously need to add a trigger warning in Vinny's Better Call Saul and Breaking Bad discussion.

They've done warnings like this on past TV review stuff that Vinny but it was when it was an audio warning. Since Vinny wasn't doing it live he didn't think of giving a warning.
If he didn't you'd have people mostly complaining in the comments instead of having an actual good discussion about the show and all that. As we've seen Vinny does enjoy reading youtube comments for better and for worse.
