Joel's story about his dad calling him up because he was angry he couldn't fly IRL just like he had dreamed the night before might be my favorite Joel story. What's your favorite Joel story?

That time he played against a Japanese guy in the arcade then the guy came up to him and was all like “sugoi desu ne GG!” with Joel being equally as excited despite the language barrier.

He talked a couple of times how he had to on-the-fly censor his games so that his parents wouldn't think of them as inappropriate and take them away. GTA is actually a driving simulator where you stop at red lights.

There's another one where he told that he stayed over at his half-brother to play Silent Hill 2. The next day the whole family stopped by and the brother was beating the nurses with a steel pipe in the hospital level while the grandma was shouting that he is sick in the head.

I don't know if this is an unpopular opinion or not but I'm really not feeling any of the Tomodachi streams from Vinny, Joel or even Jerma this time around. Most of the "gameplay" is just watching them draw stuff. Vinny's last stream was almost an hour and a half of just drawing quietly. It's pretty tough to watch. I feel like the 3DS game had them actually interacting between the Miis more.
That's the main reason I got tired of the game myself. Too much focus on making things yourself, less on just having weird shit happen by chance. It loses a bit of the magic when things are directed, rather than by chance. You did still direct things by import miis in the first game, but it felt a bit more "natural" for lack of a better word. I don't know, the game is alright, but I got bored of it pretty quick.

I think not having to creatively work around a filter also sort of hurts it, to a certain extent. It's "too easy."

the one where he got stranded with no money and no phone and had to spend the night at a mcdonald's
or when he went to a chinese restaurant with his dad and they kept fucking up his steak (why would you order steak at an ethnic restaurant and expect it to be good lmao)
or where he played some hentai bootleg that his brother told him not to play and the story ended with "and then my dad turned to the dog and said 'if you're going to be, here act like people' and then i went home and had chicken mcnuggets"

Yeah this time around they spend more time making things than they do interacting with them - and then those interactions are hardly spontaneous. Oh wow the Bulk Bogan mii you made likes the workout magazine you added specifically for him? That's crazy. Glad we watched 45 minutes of quiet drawing to see that interaction happen.

This was the same with the new animal crossing game imo. Saw it on the streams too. Feels like Nintendo has gone downhill

Animal Crossing on the Switch is one of the most disappointing games of all time. You're no longer a fish out of water, trying to make his way in a quirky eccentric animal village, doing your best to carve out a little niche and make a living in this place that's actively hostile to your new presence and exists with or without you... you're the omnipotent god that gets his dick sucked by everyone, leveling buildings with a snap of your finger and deleting anybody who looks at you wrong.

When there's absolute and infinite freedom to do whatever you want, there's not much of a point in doing anything. The game just rolls over and lets you have your way with it. It's like when you were 12 and got an action replay and put god mode and moon jump cheats on and sucked all the fun out of super mario bros by removing any and all challenge.

The stories Joel tells about his family and how they instantly reject technology is interesting. I think his dad was like the only one that was O.K. with computers, but it also explains why Joel is the way he is with technology as well. He's also got that "old school" mindset where he believes yt-dlp is a virus because "you need to use the terminal". Also he needs his mods to help him with emulators sometimes.

I believe during his Banjo Kazooie streams he told a story where some junkie-looking guy sat next to him so Joel randomly started talking about drugs (aka, his medicine) to "appease him". Also funny was a comment he read from chat right after "Plot twist: He was more scared of you than you were of him".

Joey needs to lay off the pepsi and raw potatoes, three of his adult teeth have been repoed by the tooth fairy.

On another note, I've always been interested to find people's opinions on the music/lyricism beyond the abundance of "10/10 album."
It took me a while to get around to listening to Retcon, but I tend to agree with your take, I find that Vinny's vocal performances are pretty mixed and the majority of Red Vox's songs are forgettable. To be completely honest, I only ever listen to Red Vox just because I like Vinny and don't mind giving him another chance to impress me. I think the band has a lot of interesting ideas, but Vinny often tries to sing outside of his capable range because of that which can make some of the tracks borderline hard to listen to despite a decent instrumental.
That was my opinion with Retcon as well unfortunately, but I would like to say I'm genuinely really enjoying the song Brother. The vocals stay in a range that's comfortable for him and aren't excessively coated in effects, the lyrics and theme are simple but poignant, the worst thing I can say about it is that the outro is a bit long but that's barely a nitpick. I just like it a lot, even the tracks from earlier album(s) that I thought were 'good' like Stranded and Reno weren't as enjoyable for me as Brother is. It went straight on my shitty mood playlist

I would be interested in hearing him talk about something he's passionate about, but when he's just stumbling through a slideshow with nothing to add it's just a complete farce.
That's my problem with Vinny. He's the most boring, milquetoast person on the entire platform. Everything about him seems performative because the only genuine parts about him are literally the most mainstream, vanilla opinions. I hear my molars crack whenever he mentions The Beatles, Oasis, or anything about the 80s, its like he has a Reddit feed wired directly into his frontal lobe. Any time a piece of fiction that has the most basic, uninteresting middle aged white dude, it reminds me exactly of him. His whole schtick is "Look at me I'm just a guy, I hope nothing weird happens. Uh oh weird thing happens!" and all of his audience clapping their hands like seals because they find it funny to see a "normie" act uncomfortable and flustered. The rest of his fans are pooners that fantasize their ideal male relationship with him, or as someone to skinwalk because his entire persona is the most general, inoffensive, and simple to understand personality.

To me Vinnie is like if capeshit was personified and livestreamed on Twitch for a living.

Funny you should say that. This morning I saw the weird drawings his subreddit has been making and thought "shame the Farms are down; I'd post this there". But now it seems I needn't bother.
They just amuse themselves with fanfiction about the guy because he's so fucking boring these days. But when a brand new video is posted by him, it gets barely any upvotes in comparison.
It's like they're enamored with the idea of Vinny more than the actual guy himself, and I can't blame them. He squandered his potential to ride the algorithm and now makes the most boring shit I've ever seen.

He really did have a spark in the early days, though. He'd make the kind of jokes that'd get him crucified if he made them now.
There's just something soulless about his content now. It's shamelessly algorithmic and does nothing for me. Dude just got real comfortable, I guess. Dude gets money and fucked his fans and has his Radiohead-knockoff band.

Probably going to cash out soon when he hits the wall in his mid-40s or his Residen Evil Leon wig falls off during a livestream.
Now THAT would be entertaining :coom:

Covid and getting accused of sexual misconduct really messed with him. Every now and then I'll turn on a random VOD and if it's from 2020 or 2021 you can tell he's just defeated. If it's a game he's really interested in, he can still be entertaining somewhat, but I agree he relies on safe edgy a lot. The thing that I always roll my eyes at is his "I'm 14 and this is deep" attitude towards either the addictions successful artists have or the current normie flavor of the month show or movie. It does make revisiting past streams funny when he's praising and saying how deep or profound a show is and then with a few years of hindsight knowing it either turned to trash or literally no one cares about it anymore
