I just watched Joel's latest Diablo 2 stream and he said he was going to play Spelunky 2 on release day. At this point do you guys think he'll be back by tomorrow?

Really gotta wonder if Vinny grasps just how fucking scary all the AI generation stuff he messes around with lately truly is. Last night's stream in particular he showcased a thing where video clips have separate audio added onto them and lips are manually synced to the new voice, and as he does every time he kinda just notes how fascinating it is and how much more advanced this stuff will get in a few years.

Maybe he is aware how unsettling and frightening that tech is and is merely putting on a funny facade so chat doesn't freak out (though it's quickly not working at this rate as the audience gets more and more spooked every time he brings this stuff up), but it's still odd to me how he never seems to truly hint at how horrifying the potential dystopian cyberpunk tech he messes around with is. Then again considering his rampant obsession with the cyberpunk genre (hello Blade Runner SHOT meme) he could genuinely be excited for such a bleak future...

When Realign came out I read an interview where Vin said he looked at a lot of AI generation tools as inspiriation. I would theorize that he likes the bizarre quality of them. I think they're freaky and unsettling, but I guess that can be screwed into a positive.

I think Joel dug his own grave when it comes to the chapter section on youtube. He has always been a bit "lackadaisical" when it comes to uploading vods but now that he has to segment the streams (he doesn't have to but try telling him that) he has even less drive to upload because you have to go through the video and segment it correctly.

Sure he can be aware of it, but if he was that unsettled by it he wouldn't keep trying to do so many segments related to AI-generation, whether it be AI-dungeon or AI-generated nightmares. For the most part he finds it fucking hilarious. We can be both unsettled by technology and amused by it at the same time.

AI Dungeon is self-aware now and Vinny pressed it to make note. He knows AI draws power from the informational sea of chaos and wants to see how far into the dream he can go.

I kind of wanna get it...just to see how creepy it can get, but I also don't want to in case it gets far too real/uncomfortable

I think the lip-syncing technology still has a ways to go.

It's always painful when he gets some "DRAWN BY TIMMY AGE 5" shit (except drawn by someone in their 30s) and has to grin and say "wow I love it" through his teeth. Then again that's not really a Joel exclusive experience.

Yeah but that's the nice part. I could knock something out in like... an hour or two, maybe, and he'd probably like it more than the shit some sped drew in 3 days.
I really like seeing the "done on a piece of printer paper" art where you can SEE the pencil marks embedded into the page. Like the special needs kid was pressing the pencil into the paper so hard. :story:

I’m gonna take a wild guess and assume you’re way more scared of this than he is. Personally i’m more of a ‘asteroid gonna destroy the earth’ kinda guy but

Is the whole "FUCK YOU NORWAY" a Sweed meme? cause it seems Pewdiepie was in on that too.

It’s a Scandinavian thing. Sweden shits on Norway and Denmark (joel mentions his thoughts on denmark in some geoguessr streams a few times) and Norway/Denmark shit on Sweden and eachother. Joel’s from Northern Sweden, so Norway’s closer
It’s a given to get at least a few jokes (“”) from them about the others when you talk to one

I think Vinny is unaware of shit like voice cloning or has ever sat down to truly understand how advance this technology will be in the coming years. It is most known now to make memes and music and the actual impressive shit isn't easily accesible to someone without a computer science degree, so most people don't really take AI or neural network anything too seriously or don't really think about it or it's implications. He pretty much only uses them as toys for his amusement so I think of him as about the same as most people.

I wonder if there are fans out there that would sit down and make their own Vinesauce neural network. It's not impossible to do. (Edit: I do not promote actually doing this.)
