Let's complain a little, shall we?

- inventory clutter. I absolutely hate it when I play an RPG and I have to constantly manage inventories of 4 different characters. It's especially jarring when there's an item or encumberance cap. This is easily the worst thing about Divinity: Original Sin 2 and Baldur's Gate 3. I must've spent 20% of game time on sorting crafting components, dozens of potions etc. [see: attachment 1]

- UI that doesn't make good use of screen space. Why should you see 40 items at any given time when you might as well see 12? This problem and the one mentioned above can sometimes exist in tandem (Fallout 3 with the stupid Pip-Boy) [see: attachment 2]

- weapon/item wheel and d-pad 4 shortcut system. I play on PC exclusively and I don't use a controller. I wish developers would make separate interfaces for people like me. Sometimes the wheel is your only option and you can't even bind anything to keys, which would be much faster and more convenient. [see: attachments 3 and 4]

Units where their upgraded versions are objectively worse than the base version, usually because the new version has stricter requirements to deploy or works on less maps.

Unskippable cutscenes. Even on first time playthroughs, if I just want to get to the gameplay or try out how the mechanics feel, I should be able to skip a cutscene any time I want to.

Add unskippable opening movies to that. Want to replay a game from the beginning? Lost your save file? Well you gotta sit through an unskippable opening cutscene. Plus any unskippable tutorials that tell you which button you need to press to jump. Since you can view almost every cutscene on the internet now having them forced on you is completely unnecessary. How hard is it to add a skip button?

As for tutorials, I think the only tutorial I played that was worth it was in Phantom Brave because it gives you a chance to obtain a unique weapon skill.

Not respecting player time. I'm an adult with a job, let me save when I want to.
In a similar vein, for every five seconds it takes to go from playing a PC game to my desktop, the development lead should lose a finger. And if the game doesn't respect Alt-F4 (or the equivalent on other OSes), they should be publicly crucified.

There is absolutely zero excuse for making it a chore to quit a game, yet they still do it all the time.

This reminds me of Borderlands 1 transitioning into Borderlands GOTY Enhanced

If there is a hell, I hope it has a special place for whoever is responsible for making UIs worse

I've got an idea for how i would implement the item wheel for PC players, don't know if something like this has ever been done before but it's like this: You have a menu page where you can create your own item wheel with as many sections as you want, but not only that, you can create hotkey-bar-shortcut item wheels, which basically allows you to create and save custom hotkey bar configurations, with the ability to name them or add icons to them for identification, and add that to the wheel instead, let's say the game in question allows for 1-9 to be used as hotkeys, and you create 6 hotkey bar configurations, this means you've got quick access to 54 hotkeys, which is great for games like Skyrim or other games where you get a lot of items/spells and want easy access to them.

You could even combine both the configurations and items on one wheel, with the option to place them wherever on the wheel you want them to.

But i'm certain no one is bothered to implement such a thing.

Thread tax:
The copying of popular game designs without expanding on it or changing it into something different and unique, think of RTS games where 90% are C&C or Starcraft clones with a different skin, and only the bare minimum in terms of mechanics, like if you're going to recycle a design concept, is it too much to ask to add a little more than what you've copied from?

Also, Open world survival games that also cater to Singleplayer, having to gather resources by yourself for ever increasingly complex items/objects with higher demands in terms of quality and quantity every tier up, is kinda extremely tedious, it would be nice to see more of those games be designed in such a way that when you reach a certain point, you can hire/recruit/capture NPCs to do the chores for you while you can focus on the adventure/exploration aspect more.

I'm really glad someone made a mod for Max Payne 3 that lets you do that. It was a real life saver on my second playthrough. The game is hilariously short without the cutscenes.

1. Poorly located/infrequent save points

2. Lack of control customization

3. Locking the "true" ending behind a playthrough (or worse, multiple playthroughs)

The mouse cursor menu navigation on a controller shit destiny made popular makes me want to turn a game off almost immediately.

Not being able to listen to audio logs while playing

Character laying on a bed without the blanket on top of them.
Dirty rooms that normal people live/work in.
