Here's an example of a remake + translation that's annoying by virtue of how it was released:

There was a graphic novel in Japan by the name of Kamatachi no Yuro for the SNES, notable for being one of Chunsoft's first, being featured on GameCenter CX, and having a name that comes off very goofy in translation: "Night of the Sickle Weasel". Its been released on a ton of different platforms over the years, and eventually, got an English translation by the much better name of "Banshee's Last Cry":

...but only for iOS. Dammit!
People always remember that one, but Majotachi no Nemuri is way creepier.

Mostly due to how it it used actual photographs and compressed them down, the visuals are a bit unsettling

The constant wind sound also adds to it.

Final Fantasy VIII "Remastered" is one such shameless cash grab. It's basically a collection of graphics mods being marketed as a remaster. At least half of the assets remain untouched, leading to a hideous contrast between high-poly character models and decrepit 320x240 environments given the old "upscale and blur" treatment into oblivion. Also, RE4 definitely doesn't need a remake. Since itvuses a fully 3D engine, all it needs to look good is to be rendered at a higher resolution and given an updated set of textures every few years.

Considering that RE2 and RE3 have recently gotten remakes, I think people have subconsciously accepted that RE4 remake will eventually happen. They’re trying to justify it ahead of time.

The only remakes I’ve bought into are Crash Bandicoot/ Team Racing, Spyro, and Shadow of the Colossus. All surprisingly well done for the most part, and they’re conveniently my favorite games to this day.

And now BluePoint is teasing at an MGS1 remake... What happens in 10 or 20 years, when the industry is still shitting out remakes from the dwindling pool of intellectual property?

I feel like we're doomed to purchase these weird, re-heated comfort foods from our youth (which probably aren't as good as we remembered anyways).

Why do people beg Capcom for a Resident Evil 4 remake, only to demand that absolutely nothing be changed at all besides the graphics? That’s so stupid, you’re just paying for the exact same game but it requires better hardware and it’s 60 dollars.
Supposedly the game is semi-broken at 60fps because certain calculations are tied to framerate, so there is that. Of course if CRAPCOM can't even port the game right, maybe a remake wouldn't be so hot.

I, for one, am completely looking forward to the Last of Us remake because it DEFINITELY needs one after it came out in 2013.

The game plays horribly even after its PS4 remaster, the characters are bad, Joel needs a rework and it's just a mess. It's virtually unplayable between the combat and story.

If anything needs a remake, it's Last of Us.

. . . No but seriously, I almost can't believe they're remaking it. That one of the most retarded things I've read in a while because there's NOTHING wrong with the first game that needs to be changed(save maybe some ai tweaking and incorporation of a couple mechanics from II). It's not even ten years old and it still plays fine. I bet money they're only doing it to repaint Joel as some completely irredeemable asshole to make every other character (i.e. Abby) more sympathetic by comparison.
