It's not actually from the game itself, but this metal cover of the Nier Automata credits song was pretty good. The lyrics work well with the original, kind of sad, tone, but I think it works better with the angry twist this guy puts on it.

Original for comparison:

I have been replaying halo 2 recently and remembered how much I liked the soundtrack

Im not gonna lie and say it doesnt give me goosebumps. This is the most weeb ass, Final Fantasy like Kefka ass boss fight soundtrack you will ever hear, and I fucking love it for it. I love the opera, I love all of it.

This song is like the ultimate, bad guy, final boss theme, and if youre six years old its gonna be the one where youre facing phase three of the four-phase final boss and your hands are sweating and your friend is looking over your shoulder gripping you like "DONT FUCK IT UP DONT FUCK IT UP" and youre like shut up, you dick!

I wish the actual boss battle it went to was worth the fucking energy that music has behind it. When I played the level, I dont think I even heard the entire thing and I think there is even a longer version than this one, I just liked the thumbnail and artwork on this video.

Im not gonna lie and say it doesnt remind me of like Macaroni Grill either. I think I came here to post it and make some remark about that but then I was dragged into boomer-dom.

I quite enjoyed Ghost Recon Wildlands. It wasn't what I'd call a great game, but the amount of hours I sunk into it must mean it was doing something right.
The radio tracks may not have truly been the narcocorrido they were imitating, but they were fun in their own way. Especially this one.

Did I mention that I love opera music as final boss music in video games yet? That transition at 11:40 is like one of the most brilliant things I can think of that I have ever seen in a video game boss fight. And holy shit do I love the like key shift to like just mashing sharps and flats at like 14:40. Holy shit nothing is gonna make a boss fight feel like "No, YOURE stupid, here comes my ultimate attack!" And they have that choir, fuck.

I also love the artwork from FF 6 and it was the last to have that artwork, I think specifically from that guy. I dont remember his name but he had these beautifully weird watercolors that were used as concept art.

It was the last time Final Fantasy was rooted in weird fantasy. 9 went back to it, and 12 went back a little bit, but it's always been more towards like cyberpunk whatever stuff.

After like 3 years and a corrupt hard drive it's finally here:

Earnest Evans, Weird early ragdolll action game with Motoi Sakuraba music. Had a cart released in the West for the Genesis but Japan had a CD version with sweet music.
