Only played a lil bit of trepang2 felt like a janky source mod. I might get back to it.

Just cruising around in new forza at the moment. Its alright apart from the hideously ugly characters and the dialogue feels ai and wooden. Cars and scenery arr cool though.

When you bear in mind FEAR inspirations end at the slow motion and shotgun and everything else is rather inspired by 2020s SCP and the new CoD:MW series you start to get how things are the way they are.

the first three hours of the game are FEAR put through a william S burroughs newspaper cut-up where they've rearranged the order of events to make a new story but like the same fucking shit happens. the levels are mostly offices and buildings under construction, the weapons feel the exact fucking same. You're literally the same fucking guy with the same powers and the same origin story. The game uses helicopter cutscenes in the same nonsensical and narratively pointless way that FEAR does too, like they just played the game once and copied what they remembered

but you're right that it's more of a bad SCP knockoff because it has that weird grandiosity and quick chungus epic badassery that you expect from gay kids whose dads were in the military

My problems with Trepang2 are many but I think I can generalize them with a single example.

Someone played FEAR and wanted to make his own version of the replicant squad callouts.
"Uh FUCKING sir FUCKING 106 has FUCKING fucked us up" "WHAT THE FUCKING FUCK FUCK DO YOU MEAN HE FUCKING FUCKED YOU GET THE FUCK OUT OF THERE AND FUCKING KILL THAT FUCKER, YOU FUCKING HEAR THAT 106 YOU FUCKER I'M FUCKING COMING TO FUCKING GET YOU FUCK" was his implementation.
You apply this setup to "Someone played FEAR and wanted to make his own version of the [thing] and [thing but I CAN MAKE IT COOLER LIKE ULTRAKILL AND TURBO OVERKILL" and that's more or less all of my problems with T2 listed out.

One of the main characters is voiced by tranny-lover and testicle-euthanized Gianni Matragrano. That's all you need to know about the game.

That's like every indie game that shells out for voice acting right now. That's not exactly a meaningful metric.
