I finished Forbidden Siren (2003) a couple days ago on the PCSX2. Man, I remember renting this game back when it came out and the repetitive nature of revisiting the levels didn't allow me to beat the game at the time but I did get to Day 2 before I couldn't finish it. Now though, completing the game, it was quite a ride. Horror games in general don't scare me and rarely disturb me but there's something about the game's vibe and atmosphere that really left me with a good impression, the game's soundtrack and fucked up story made me feel actually disturbed for once, especially in a long time. Its kinda sad though that the main characters don't make it out of the shibito world and the implication that they're stuck in a time distorted world in which they're doomed to repeat over and over again really gives you a shit feeling, most games now a days would usually give some sort of feel good moment or at least elevate the world ending event for everyone to deal with but in this one, it's just the main characters and a small group of victims that are doomed into this hell while the the rest of the world just wonders on, shit's fucked up.

Siren is my favorite horror game and I've played a lot of them. What's funny is that I bought it because of the box art. I had no idea what I was in for and after I finished it I felt drained like I had gone through some stressful event. My first playthrough took forever because I didn't have a guide, though the game manual has some important clues for some of the more baffling puzzles.
