I'd call this whole story self explanatory really.

In a piss poor attempt at eliminating a medium-sized black market the government introduced strict new foreign currency laws, effectively banning the exchange of local currency for US dollars, Euros or British Sterling.

This has had a disastrous domino effect on the wider economy, with businesses unable to import and export vital goods and services, the economy has been slowly collapsing.

This has now begun to bite hard into the medical sector, with no ability to import much equipment and other necessities such as drugs Venezuela's hospitals are rapidly becoming a disaster zone.

This is in spite of the fact that the government of Maduro continues to spout out increasingly deluded statements and claims that Venezuela has a great healthcare system and isn't increasingly a bankrupted shithole that has run out of toilet paper, oil, and other basic necessities.

What is it that attracts filthy rich Jewllywood twerps to a semi-literate bus driver who has impoverished a nation of 30 million people?

Maybe Jamie Foxx could do away with a part of his net worth of $100 million to purchase food for starving Venezuelans, but I guess that would defeat the entire purpose of his visit.

The institution of useful idiot is alive and kicking in the West, it seems.

Updating the thread with something worrying: Venezuela has trespassed brazilian air space with their fighter planes.
Our airforce quickly stationed 5 attack aircraft on the border state (most likely to attack and disable the su30's airbases) they claimed it was for a exercise, but unlike all other excercises my air force has done in the past, this was not reported beforehand to the press.
Also the website of the brazilian air force went down.

http://www.aereo.jor.br/2016/10/09/o-armamento-dos-sukhoi-su-30-mk2-venezuelanos/

their fighter jets are the most modern in service in the south and central america until the Super gripens bought by brazil start to enter service in 2018.

The venezuelan goverment doesnt recognize our goverment since we kicked their friendly female president out in august.
i hope they dont pull a argentina on us and try to go to war to just create a enemy and rally the people against it instead of the dictatorship.

Why don't they go attack Guayana? I mean they have claims on their land and Guayana has been worse than Venezuela for most of its period, it would be easy.

Guyana is also a Commonwealth nation, so you'll have the UK getting involved too.

Which, as pointed out earlier, would get NATO and thus the US involved, since the UK is a member country.

Basically, them trying to seize Guyana land would be like lighting yourself on fire while sticking your dick in a hornet's nest. A terrible idea entirely.

Unless the UK goes cap in hand asking for help from allies, no, no it will not involve NATO. It won't trigger Article 5, which is the mutual defence part of the pact.

If anything, the UK may not even officially get involved in any such conflict, but I wouldn't be surprised if their special forces arm wasn't somewhat enhanced via London.

I would expect the rapid deployment of Commonwealth bods to help try and mediate the situation though, or provide a lot of technical experience.

And now I desperately need a hilarious photoshop of the Nobel Prize medal with Hugo Chavez's fat face on it instead of Alfred Nobel.

No need. This is probably the trophy he'll receive:

They just want to bootlick Russia in hopes senpai notices them, which it won't unless there is something valuable for them to get without the US going full tardrage on them. Which I very much doubt.

Venezuela has banned all civilian aviation and drones until the 31th.
Also a su-30 escorted a avianca 787 into Venezuela, understandably they have announced they will cease all flights to Venezuela.

Welp, it looks like the Venezuelan Bolivar lost almost half of its remaining value in the last month and people are fleeing the country by the hundreds of thousands.

From the first article:
Torino Capital chief economist Francisco Rodriguez said in a report on Nov. 7 that the bolivar could likely end the year around 1,990 per dollar on the black market after the currency started to weaken in October following six months of relative stability. He raised that estimate to 2,327 bolivars per dollar in a report sent on Nov. 14. Inflation will likely start to accelerate over the coming months in certain sectors that are sensitive to the black market rate including alcoholic beverages, restaurants, electronics, and appliances, Oliveros said.

Inflation in the country will likely rise to 400 percent in 2016, according to the median estimate of 13 analysts who responded to a Bloomberg survey. Individual responses ranged from 257 percent to 1,500 percent.

More victories for socialism.

Our northern state's border towns have already declared a humanitarian crisis since they are overwhelmed by dozens of thousands of starving people.
Literally every shop in those towns are now selling food and the food stocks of the region's have been completely exhausted.

So it's Europe writ small? Sounds quite horrific tbh. You done really fucked up when people are fleeing just to grab a loaf of bread, milk and toilet paper.

They aren't here to stay, they just wanted to buy food.
And yeah is horrifying that a country that is literally on top of oil is experiencing a 1930s Soviet famine
