I've known for the longest time that Wikileaks were ethically unreliable people. Not because of anything they did, but just because there are those certain occasions you can glance at something and have it pegged for what it is immediately. They always struck me as reckless and unscrupulous, but now it's been pushed into the limelight they have strongly autistic political biases and are glorified tech-hippies. They only care about a government's flaws insofar as they are big, powerful & successful, which by their logic makes Venezuela an underdog to stand by because of their enormous failures.

The problem is that it's not honesty if it's not neutral, they've just shown they're willing to take sides, which means they'll scrutinize what they'll expose by who they like the least, which means they're wielding their power to influence politics and elections in a way that makes China and Russia salivate. They've just proven they do not care about honesty at all.
 
Maduro is doing a press conference at the same time as Guaido and is saying the most stupid things you could even imagine, is hinted that he has not leaved Miraflores since his bravado because he is scared

1) He is claiming that he NEVER broke relationships with the USA even when he actually did live in television, that he actually broke relationships with Donald Trump, NOT THE USA NO NO NO

2) He claim that everything was taken OUT OF CONTEXT DOOODD and he will keeping selling oil to the united states

3) He is asking Guaido to meet and solve their differences peacefully, in Guaido press conference the people and him practically said "unless is for your resignation you can fuck off"

Is extremely pathetic he is now saying that the USA is actually a good country full of good people even when 3 days ago he was exclaiming that you americans only want to come here to steal oil, poison our rivers and rape our mothers

Edit: the General attorney was going to make a press conference to possibly talk about arresting Juan Guaido, it was suddenly cancelled, they know they cant touch him because he is blessed by Orange Man

His army just gave him the bad news that if he starts a war with the USA they are going to drop his ass so fast he will assume he's driving the express bus again. He's toast. Even if the USA wasn't turning the screws already, he has literally shown his throat to the opposition if this is legit.

It's only a handful of people, compared to the millions in anti-Maduro marches we've seen in pictures and videos. They might as well be overrun and thrown to the Orinoco river.

Handful of people that come from other states brought to key places using public transportation, they are brought for little towns or promised box of food but for example the "vigilance" in Miraflores lasted less than a day because the box did not arrive, people packed, get in the buses that brought them there and leaved, it was so hilariously bad that Maduro dont even let cameras nearby because there is no one there

Doesn't this mean that Russia is now officially protecting Maduro's continued bid for power? Shaking hands with Putin might've been the only smart move he ever made. After all, Putin's needed a new doormat since Castro died.

Private military contractors, eh? You mean mercenaries?

There's a reason why mercenaries are seen as disreputable in any historical or current era. And that's because they can be bought. If they will fight for you not out of loyalty or out of having "skin in the game" (as most national armed forces have), but out of the fact you're writing the cheques, all it takes for them to be defeated is someone with a bigger chequebook to come along and they'll go right over.

In Joe Abercrombie's excellent novel "Best Served Cold," the protagonist was a mercenary captain in a counterpart culture to renaissance Italy and had a racket with her boss that he would take half the brigade and fight for one city state while she would fight for the other, and they'd not actually fight but larp at it. Until, of course, Duke Orso came along and promised her a very large amount of cash indeed to actually do it for real. Which she did.
 
I admire the dancing skill of the news media. They've managed to go from "RUSSIA IS BAD, INTERFERING IN OUR ELECTION" to "RUSSIA IS GOOD, INTERFERING IN VENEZUELA'S ELECTION" without missing a beat.
