Compared to Zimbabwe? The average Venezuelan is literate, has some education some basic math skills and can use most basic and common tools and technology. They may not have much in the way of Rocket Scientists and research physicists. But they have a good well educated industrial base. We forget how uncommon this is.

They also didn't try and solve the economic crisis by cracking each other's heads open in search of hidden vampire gold..... Africans have done just that. On SEVERAL occasions.

All of them, probably

That's where it gets weird. For some reason Americans and such rarely know much about mid 20th Century China. Yes the ROC forces that eventually retreated to Taiwan ruled China. Part of China. Mainly the North East. But they never had full control. After the fall of the Emperor China was split into warlord driven Fiefdoms with the two biggest such being Deng's ROC and Mao's Communists. Each had a piece. Neither had claim to the whole. Then Japan invaded and largely crushed the ROC regions forcing the two to team up for awhile. Then once Japan was defeated the hostilities started again. But the Republic forces were largely spent, and were forced to retreat to Taiwan. The key thing is neither group ever held sway over all of China. At this point in time China's claims that they own Taiwan, a freely flourishing Democracy and the fourth largest economy in the world are beyond absurd. And any attempt to take the island by force would be a disastrous mess. Trying to take a technologically advanced island nation that is extremely well armed, has been fortifying against you for 4 generations and has the baking of several nations able to project power globally is not a sound military decision. It is rather like attacking Israel.

It's pretty funny that despite all the breaks communists have gotten by nations acting dumb and destroying eachother (ROC china being invaded, soviets gaining half of europe as a war trophy) they still couldn't keep themselves together and ended up self destructing or reorganizing

Russia's problem is not the EU it is Nato. The US, UK and France would absolutely back up Poland if the Russians attack, admittedly all for somewhat different reasons. All the Visegrad countries too.
The Us and UK dont have to come, EU forces alone would be enough to beat the russians. german and french tanks and aircraft are superior to russians, small arms are in favour of the EU and the Polish will be super motivated to take arms and fight.
The EU outspends Russian on an healthy level, even without meeting the 2% gdp target, no imagine the Eu going to a more warlike economy, the russians have less worker than the EU factorys.

>It always turns out BAD.

How is it going to be bad for Venezuela? Worst case scenario, people are still lining up at the Columbian border to buy bread and toilet paper.

The worst cases are a Civil War and Maduro holding on to power. The absolute worse case would be a civil war that was won by the Socialists, because it would get so much worse afterwords.

I've been talking with people involved in syndicates (both in my country and Venezuela), and they're willing to go to civil war to defend the regime.
By "syndicates", do mean "unions" or pro-government militias?

Either way, I agree with you entirely. Maduro still has the army, ~20% of people's support and support of foriegn powers with money and arms. This maybe a beginning, not an end.

You know you're in the UK or US and at an elite university when you hear people say stuff like that. Pretty much the other 99.9999999999% of humanity would think 'Hey the Russians have finally got rid of their shitty government. Good for them! I hope it works out well'.

As Orwell observed "The average intellectual of the Left believed, for instance, that the war was lost in 1940, that the Germans were bound to overrun Egypt in 1942, that the Japanese would never be driven out of the lands they had conquered, and that the Anglo-American bombing offensive was making no impression on Germany. He could believe these things because his hatred for the British ruling class forbade him to admit that British plans could succeed. There is no limit to the follies that can be swallowed if one is under the influence of feelings of this kind. I have heard it confidently stated, for instance, that the American troops had been brought to Europe not to fight the Germans but to crush an English revolution. One has to belong to the intelligentsia to believe things like that: no ordinary man could be such a fool."
Excellent quote. I must admit, for all my fucketry, I leaned more about how to view the world and respect the human in another from Orwell and no other. No-one I've ever met has been as much of a guiding light.

It fucks me right off when I see someone misuse Orwell's name and voice for a nonsnse poinmt, which happened several times today. Good quote!

I for one await the Leftist NPCs finally come full circle and say that this is finally proof that the US destroyed Venezuela's economy, and not that their socialism is so exceptional that they can't even sell oil to willing buyers.

I hope to hell not. It's a lost cause, and all that will cause is grief. I hope the military come to their senses.

They already say that.

Now, I don't condone violence against people just because I disagree with them. But these people are really fucking exceptional and should be kidnapped and thrown in a random Venezuelan neighborhood. They wouldn't last a week. /alogging

I'm unaware of Bolivia's situation, but considering they aren't fleeing off their country in masses I'm sure it's at least a tad bit better than Venezuela.

They still have toilet paper and food, for one. Anyhow, situation's not great, but part of my family is there and they haven't fled anywhere yet. So it's definitely livable for now.

Government is still corrupt as shit, though. Friends that I have from Nigeria always joke with me about how similar our countries are, like how it is basically expected to give a bribe to police to get out of parking tickets and such.

When your family gives La Policia a bribe, how many wheelbarrows do they need?

This is gonna be like Bosnia except it's gonna be Turkish Islamists battling Saudi Islamists instead of Iranian Islamists battling Saudi Islamists.

Not a lot of money, surprisingly. But it depends on the cop? They really don't get paid well. I feel bad for some of them, almost.
You still have actual police? I thought a majority of law enforcement in Venezuela is either commies with sticks beating everyone right of mao or or elderly commies with rusty old bolt action rifles guarding the town's last functoning cell phone tower.

Talking about Bolivia, not Venezuela. It's pretty poorly-trained, crappy police, but they have uniforms and guns.

I'm sorry but please. Yes Germany and france may have better equipment then Russia, But they don't possess an ounce of the guts. And remember half of Europe gets their oil from Russian controlled territories. Who do I think will budge first Brussels or Moscow? Sorry I'll take moscow.
