All the commie cock-suckers going on about what the CIA will do to coup the government for stealing the election. Not a word about what Russia & Cuba will do to prop up their puppet.

When she realized we were telling the truth, and that this wasn't just a store for apparatchiks but actually wasn't even the best grocery store in our two-grocery-store town, she sobbed howling sobs in the toilet paper aisle, the rolls stacked up to the ceiling.

Yours is not the only tale of a Soviet visiting an American grocery store and having a total breakdown.

I mean over 3 dozen countries use the US dollar as a main form of currency. After all the inflated us dollar still is valuable abroad.
yes but it makes the cost of living really fucking high in a lot of these countries, specially if you dont also get paid in dollars

This is horribly sad, I hope this girl managed to run away from soviet shit but probably not considering they hold your family hostage if you leave

My family hosted a Soviet exchange student in 1989. It was a last-minute host switch, as the girl's original host family had to relocate for a work transfer. So my parents didn't get the training about what to expect, or culture shock, or any of that. They went in blind.

When she arrived, we picked her up at the airport and then went to the grocery store to pick up dinner. It was a big store, though not a fancy one. It was a Cub Foods, one of those places where the toilet paper was stacked sky-high in the warehouse-like aisles. When we entered, she got visibly uncomfortable. Then she seemed almost angry. She asked my parents, in a skeptical/harsh voice, "who is allowed to shop here?" My parents told her "anyone," but she didn't believe it until she saw how weird I found the question, and I was too little to prop up a lie that well.

Anyway, that's why I've never been tempted by communism.
I grew up minutes down the road from the grocery store Yeltsin famously visited in 1990. It was a Randall's at the time, but has since become a Food Town. Ironically, it's one of the shittiest grocery stores in the entire area now. Someone got stabbed there a few years back.

She was from the Ukraine, so I've never known which side of the conflict she ended up on. Her name was too common to search meaningfully for. I've always wondered how she's doing. When she went back home, she gave away all her clothes and packed her full luggage allowance for an international flight with Levi's from thrift stores that she picked up for $1-2. She said it'd be enough to get a car and pay for a year's apartment lease.

I honestly don't know how to feel about this, being south american I feel bad for people having to suffer these types of governments so I have some sympathy for then yet at the same time I have disdain for them: I think they're way too apathetic and submissive (not to mention several venezuelans who think they know better than you on matters of your own country). I get it though, Chavez (and now Maduro) had the army and militias on his side meaning an unarmed populace can't do much as long as thats the case.

Jimmy dore saying the election was on the up and up. Its the US and the oil capitalist saying the election was fraudulent. Any thoughts Venezuelan bros?

It doesn't matter if the marxist shills are right or the CIA is - Maduro will stay in power regardless and the commies will fail to move to their socialist multipolar paradise. The Maduro is unchurroable, DarkSydeNick will out last all the haters.

Anyone who ever thought Jimmy Dore is le heccin basederino because he shits on the Democratic Party establishment is dumb. He's a commie, he's butthurt No Refunds Bernie got screwed twice, he's showing his true and only color now. That color being Red

Question for either @Cubanodun or @LinkinParkxNaruto[AMV] since I didn't pay much attention back during the 2017 protests and don't remember. How different is it this time from them or is it more of the same?
2017 venezuela is very different from 2024 specially because the massive influx of people abandoning the country, there are people torn apart because they dont want to leave but if they stay here what await them is dying from hunger, the other difference is that the cheating was to obvious, it was so bad that it was confirmed by one of the witness of the sellout candidates that was allowed to enter that they did not bother to print the report in the counting center, the president of the CNE went to his office, opened Microsoft Word, typed random numbers ,printed it and went to do the press conference

Edit: btw according to our attorney general, the statues of Chavez are "sacred treasures" of the country

I just want all the venenzuelans to take their mutt faces and illegal bykes out of my country please and thank you.

Currently, the plan of the opposition candidate is to count the votes of the obtained ballot reports. Whether they have more votes than the ones reported, and the %, is anyone's guess.

Heard venezuela just expelled a bunch of other south american ambassadors. Those countries should straight up break all diplomatic ties with venezuela and close their embassies there.

And we should do the same, but we wont because biden is busy shitting himself and kamala is a puppet.

Didn't know there were soviet exchange students, I knew of a few warsaw pact ones. Tho this being post-perestroika I guess there was a change?

Did she said if she was ethnic russian? anyway, I would worry more about what happened to her after the soviet collapse. The 90's were downright brutal over there. Or you stayed in contact after the trip?

Any more stories of that exchange?
If lula could be like maduro he would, he's an old school commie retard still butthurt about the wall but can't do shit because he and his party never had as much of a grip on brazil as chavez/maduro had in venezuela.

Those who think he's a moderate are coping hard.

Starting to think this boomer is just a contrarian.
