BUT! there's a difference between a standing army and an internal security force, specifically logistics. An internal security force, even deployed externally, doesn't have the supply chain to operate outside of the country by themselves, so unless Columbia activated their army's logistics battalions, even if the National Police deploy on Venezuelan soil, they won't be able to operate very far outside of Columbia's borders. And that's the point. They are likely going to secure the bridge and the bridge heads.

This is diplomatic posturing & rules lawyering, but they do have a point.

The problem from everyone else’s point of view, the reason that nobody is sending in the Marines, is nobody wants to take ownership of Venezuela’s problems (and the massive costs of dealing with them.) The better option for all the other nations is Maduro to accept the standard Latin American deal of no questions asked exile to the banana republic of his choice. The current shadow government of Guaido to then step up, and the worlds financial industry to start greasing the wheels of commerce down there. The moment the first Marine boot hits the ground down there it becomes the US’s very expensive very annoying problem. And we’ve had oh so many of those in recent years. (And honestly we really are shit at nation building.) We know Maduro could be routed faster then Sadam was. But things often get ugly after that.

If Maduro is such shit, and everyone hates him so much, why the fuck haven't the people risen up and over thrown him? Take over an armory, Bastille the shit out the place. Why are you waiting on the Marines to bail your asses out of the situation you got yourselves into? Why do you expect foreigners to risk their lives to liberate you?

I think there might be a translation error here: I mean an Armory, an arsenal, where the military keeps guns. If Maduro has as little support as your saying, there shouldn't be any fear of the military trying to stop a crowd of citizens taking over and arming themselves.
Again, I'm not seeing why foreigners should need to die for the freedom your country willingly surrendered.

At least one poor unlucky marine will likely die evicting Maduro, doing the job that should be done by Venezuelans. There won't be any statues or public holidays or even shitty graffiti shrines to them, though. When whoever it is that will finally replace Maduro, steps up to take charge, if they don't immediately put in place some variation on the US First and Second Amendments, shoot them on the spot and make sure the next guy does. To be honest, if the US wants to make any kind of lasting impact without shouldering the costs, they need to empower the rogue military assets in the country instead of passively letting the purge going on in their headquarters keep happening. I keep hearing reporters from shitty TV broadcasting stations like Globo whine that 'shots were fired within the military HQ two miles from here', which implies they're starting to do their great officer purge. If that finishes, whatever passes for commisars in Maduro's regime will start to be the ones dealing the cards, and then you have no choice but the costly one.
