It remains to be seen I suppose, but I have serious doubts when I hear this is being made by some no-name no-game studio and before release they're talking to journalists about punching up and gender pronouns, it really doesn't bode well. The apparent lack of respect/understanding of the source material (just judging by posts in this thread, I'm not familiar with the series myself) should be a red flag too.

I can kinda see why these factors would be red flags, but well it remains to be seen. As I said before, there's a studio that made Shadow Tactics which is like a spiritual successor to the Commandos series and that game was awesome. These guys were also a no name studio who before this made only one game, which was their own Banjo Kazooie type, then they suddenly took a genre that nobody touched in ages and made something cool and now making Desperados 3. So, I kinda have this curiosity and hope that the guys making Bloodlines can also pull a similar thing.

Honestly, the gender/pronoun stuff doesn't bother me at all. I look at it from a Saints Row angle where this could be a great source of entertainment. It doesn't have to be pc just because it offers you wacky choices. If they're going to be "sensitive" about anything I'm not gonna buy it, though. Pirate it, probably, but definitely not gonna buy it. Games are meant to be liberating. Again, Saints Row is a perfect example. That shit was insane, and SR2 remains my favorite game to this day (I liked 3, too, but 2 was peak awesome).

Being able to just become part of a clan after being turned is retarded.

If you had a sex change operation and then became a vampire, would your dick grow back or would the ax wound refuse to heal??

<SPERGING> That's actually a very valid point and a pet peeve of mine I have with many fictional settings where characters can "restore" and "heal" back to :heart-full:. In reality, all WoW Paladins are eternal virgins (well, they are, but this makes it official), as everything will grow right back. No tats, no piercings, dental filings, etc. How does the healing ability discern which body state is the optimal state, though? Is it microbiology? Does it read your DNA? </SPERGING>

If its all magic. Couldnt it be to a preferred state?

"Punching up instead of down"
"Taking political stances on what we think are right and wrong."

lol two of the easiest, most common sources of blood in the first one were homeless people and prostitutes

Cyberpunk 2077 can't come soon enough.

Vampiric clan adoption does occur in the core setting. Thin/bloods caitiff who represent the clan well enough and have enough clout are adopted as a way to bolster numbers without having to engage in the politics and labour of making more vampires, it is however important to note that you're always going to have to work a little harder than your true blooded clanmates and mechanically your powers don't develop as quickly as everyone elses and you have to spend more xp.
Weirdly the setting would lend itself well to social commentry with Caitiff simply because the clans have always made it clear that your a 2nd class citizen so they'd be a good fill in for disenfranchised people's. With this angle the punching up could make sense since you're effectively scum as far as the others are concearned. As long as you keep it subtle rather than having them stomp around bellowing "Thin blood lives matter."

It would hold you at the point of your death including any body medifications meaning that your sex change would stick. However if you're turned before you transition then your stuck with your current body forever unless you're brave enough to ask a Tzmisce to use their flesh sculpting powers on you.

I'm sure it''ll agree just to make you a pretty girl and leave it at that. on the brightside it probably has some intersting observations on pronouns and gender fluidity.

Of course once the Tzimisce does that, your body will start healing to when you died. Theoretically, a Tzimisce could turn a guy into a woman before turning them to a vampire, like with a functioning womb and eggs and everything.
Banjo Kazooie in the form of Yooka Laylee comes off the top of my head, these revivals of old beloved classic games have a bad habit of coming out half-baked.
You forgot the worst offender of all time, Duke Nukem Forever.

Oddly enough no, Clan tzmisce's discipline powers can only be overiden if you are of lower generation than the Vampire who did it to you and you have to expend blood to do it otherwise anything they do sticks. It was something of a minor plot point in a game I was in that the Ventrue prince was wheelchair bound because his spine was damaged by a 5th gen and he was 7th.

You could definatly change someones gender as a human very throughrally however, although the average Tzmisce is a demented sadist so weither or not you want it to happen to you is irrelivant.

Not to mention that if you've got a diminishing chance of being unable to develop powers at all.

That's interesting, so higher gens can't unfuck themselves from a Tzimisce's wrath. Can you spend blood points to heal if you're higher generation or do you just have to deal with it permanently?
It seems people are forgetting that Forever was a mess during its.original development run. While Gearbox took whatever code 3dRealms had, cleaned it and slapped the game on the shelves cause they were stuck with these morons who were doing jack shit
That information doesn't really remove it from being the most monumental shitty comeback in gaming history to be fully honest.

Kinda does, the game was mess from day one and kept getting worse and worse. Even the most naive dullard would probably get the idea is that theres no way in hell this game would be able to live up to half its hype when it was originally announced, nor would it even be seen as a good comeback no matter how much you try.

Yes exactly, the damage they do to your body is often irreversable, you could easily change someone from their gender and they'd be stuck like that-their's even a Lasombra in one of the books who did just that. The only exceptions are Tremere who can boost their generation and heal the damage using Thaumaturgy, they also probaly have a couple of rituals to get around it. But that comes with the issue of asking the also evil Tremere for help and their sinister blood magic being used on you.
It cannot be used to overide clan flaws, nosferatu and samedi will look like shit regardless of what a Tzmisce does. You could probably change their gender but frankly when you look like that and have obfuscate why bother?

If lolcows were Vampires, what clans would they be? Would Phil be a Nos? I bet they'd all be Malkavian.

There's no way it's not going to be messy.
Bloodlines was based on the old lore, where the world ended in '99.
And they already announced it will play in a 2020 world.

This actually makes me wonder if they are gonna incorporate some new clans or stuff from the moder Vampire books

Welp our dear friends over at Blowtaku are already covering it so my concern now is how much some elements of the game are going to pander to the blue-haired perpetually "oppressed" demographic when compared to its predecessor.

I rather liked the gritty tone of the first one.

Honestly, the only clans I can see being seen as pandareing is either the Anarchs or..mmm....there was this new clan in the modern books who were more these sort off hippy vampire type, like nobody took em that seriously until later on when they became bad ass

IIRC The Brujah were closest thing to that in the first game. Like in sort of an anarchist Occupy Wall Street kind of way. I haven't played the tabletop version in about 15 years so I'm not as well versed on any of the newer clans. I'm a bit more partial to the Tremere, Gangrel, and Malkavian clans myself.

Its already a Steam best seller. Jesus christ. Preordering on Steam is only going to get worse because of the paranoia of it going to Epic.

Also VtMR had always been a bit SJW like. The pronouns thing probably won't matter because of you're a thin blood they'll probably just refer to you as some disgusting creature.

Also in the lore, thin bloods stuck and nobody wants to be associated with them.

Duke Nukem Forever probably would have been fine if they finished it in 1998/99. Like they should have.
