This is gonna be $1k isn't it :stress:
Probably 750-900 range. They were probably aiming for 650.

It'd be better to delay a few years to whenever the AI bubble pops, up the specs. and release a completely priced unit and succeed than release a unit at $1,000 base, fail, and ruin valve's desktop prospects... again.
I found it funny that people were arguing that the delay shouldn't exist because they got the ram before the shortage as though its better to release at base price and then jack it up to the point of making the price not worth it. If they do ship Q1 then I wouldn't doubt they are sharing the burden of cost between new and old stock to round the price out to a bad but not an utter shit deal.

Steam Machine, Steam Frame, and Steam Controller listings recently have been updated from upcoming to "Coming Soon". Microsoft can kiss their PC based Xbox hardware device goodbye.

We hope to ship in 2026, but as we shared recently, memory and storage shortages have created challenges for us. We’ll share updates publicly when we finalize our plans!

EDIT:
Steam Machine update, Valve now says all three new products will ship this year (Updated)

There's some hand-wringing about this, but it looks fine. There's no way they could guarantee 1080p60 minimum, which is 4.5x the pixels per second of 720p30. 8 GB VRAM is a potential limitation but it's implausible that something could run at 720p30 on Steam Deck but under 1080p30 on the Steam Machine. I think the Steam Machine CPU should have at least 2x the multi-threading performance of the Steam Deck, but the single-threading performance gain is much less.

I really think $99 is too much, there are controller like the 8bitdo ultimate 2 that have 90% of the features, TMR sticks included, for $60. I dont think the trackpads and the puck is worth it for $40 more. I see a bunch of retards on twitter bringing up the xbox elite controllers and whatever playstation calls their pro controllers as though no one knew those were scams with no actual benefit outside gimmicks.

After my time with the Steam Deck, I believe it's worth a little more. Those track pads can do a good deal more than just work for mouse controls. Steam lets you program them to act as extra directional inputs or even as a radial menu. Honestly, $80 was my ideal price point but $20 more over my ideal doesn't hurt my feelings too much.

Trackpads, 2 more under buttons, bottom binds, ALL which are bindable.

If you haven't used steam trackpads you unironicly have 0 understanding of what you are missing here. I hope you have at least used a steam deck so you know.

New Steam Controller release date: 5/4/26 $100.00 USD.

Unboxing and video review.
not seeing anything about bluetooth as an option, am i missing something?

The puck is cool and probably works better than bluetooth but my apple tv doesnt have usb ports and Steam Link without having to put together another Raspberry Pi is like the main use case for me. It'd be nice to have as an option.

Something I find interesting is that the controller only really functions as a controller under steam input and unless you have steam open and launch said game through it there's going to be issues. Would it be crazy to assume that people will figure out a way around that being an issue? I don't particularly have an issue with it since tbh most of my gaming these days is via steam but even so dependency on it feels kind of restricting. Outside of that the controller feels like it's perfect for me. I'll be trying to insta buy if I can on launch.
