Okay. I'll bite.
All of you idpol obsessed faggots will burn in the same vat of shit as all the SJW's from a decade ago you despise so much.
Idpol obsessed faggots will, but people who reject idpol, including when Valve does it, are doing great and will continue to do so. In this case, it's good to be skeptical of Valve leaning into DEI bullshit. If we start to see a decline in the quality of their products, then we'll know why.

And just like them, you don't actually play games you bitch about
That's by design. Why would I play awful shit that is just a DEI lecture instead of something fun?

SteamOS won't save you.
Why not?

I see you rant in the Linux thread a lot, so I won't repeat what others said here in detail, but like it or not, the main thing holding back Linux is the autistic fanbase that tard rage at anyone who wants a simple solution that gets out of the way and does what they want. Steam OS, despite any just criticisms of it, does provide a common access point.

Edit: Fixed spelling.

Valve leaning into DEI bullshit
In all fairness Valve probably just pays someone to do marketing for them like everyone else and were more focused on the overall ad rather than the small details in it.
Would they have put that in there if they were doing it in-house? Maybe. But we’ll never know bc the whole point of these companies paying firms to make these ads is to not have to sweat the minor details like casting for second-long shots.
The important part is the hardware anyway.

This would be an excellent opportunity to take up the void that xbox and playstation are currently hard at work producing. But again I see some of the faults of "just another crippled pc for your living room" design and although better, the new gamepad gives me little hope in terms of usability.
I'm almost 100% with you, but the SteamOS UI is so great it feels like a console, to be honest. It's lean, you can get really heavy games to run well even on weak hardware like the Deck's, so IF the price is right i could see it seeling well enough.
If they could manage to make the PC more affordable than, say, a PS5 Pro? And made more "Steam Machine" optimized settings? Then it could sell well.

They don't want to create a new console because their bread and butter is PCs, so they are trying to make the user experience on their machine feel as close to consoles as possible. And, to be fair, i think they succeeded with SteamOS. Even with more powerful handheld PCs out there, people would rather get Steam Decks and have better integration with their Steam library but also be able to just put the console on stand-by and pick up the game where they left off.

If they manage to make it $400 TOPS it could be a game changer.

Wangblows sucks so fucking hard it can't even handle explorer.exe. Like my machine legit just froze completely at random yesterday, twice. And all I tried to do was acces a single folder.
I don't want to buy a new PC because wangblows 11 has jeet shitstains all over it. Schteam Maschine might just be the way to go.

The beloved Steam Frame. Aw yes, I can picture it so vividly among many consumers.

Coming home from a day of intense meaningless labor and still no pay, to a single bed room cubical just to lay down and game in a state of bed-rot until the lithium-ion battery pack strapped tightly to the back of their skull blows up releasing them from their mortal nightmare. Thank you, Valve.

gabecube. making it a fucking cube was brilliant. this is the kind of memetics no amount of sony or microsoft money could ever hope to replicate.
If all else fails, it’s a good form factor to make sure it doesn’t fail due to designers trying to make a conversation piece instead of an entertainment system. I know a guy that repairs consoles and he has a literal goddamn pile of ps5s on his wall that broke because of that thing’s stupid design.

I don't really care since I stopped playing games years ago, but...

...I thought Steam was supposed to be a not completely pozzed company. Where do they even keep finding these fucking people :lit:

Pulled off the street, clearly, since they're jobbing in fucking Cuphead coop to one of the easiest bosses in the game. Thanks Volvo, we know, fat troons are shit at vidya.

if you preorder it, i hope you eat shit and die
Kinda true. Never preorder, or buy a new console (or console-adjacent PC) on release. Just look at those first gen Switches, with their dead screen pixels and various malfunctions. Give it time before you pick it up.

Lol, GabeCube partners already know how to target the Valve super fans

It will be fun to see if the Steam Machine kicks off stuff will be able to do to the outside of it.

Because it'll still be Linux, meaning it'll still have a mountain of issues with hardware compatibility, and the moment you step out of the sandbox given to you you'll be angry and confused at things you don't understand just because they're different. For Valve to make SteamOS a viable OS for any hardware configuration is for Valve to take a herculean effort to do everything about desktop Linux their own way. That is a thousand times harder than tard wrangling Arch for like 4-6 AMD based systems with custom motherboards.
Where do they even keep finding these fucking people
Check where Valve is headquartered and what political donations Gabe Newell was doing. Just try to not short circuit when your findings contradict with your "based Valve saving vidya" beliefs.

I don't have any strong feelings about this. Even when I still played I always pirated everything. I was just assuming based off of how they don't push gay shit in the store etc

That's called "not being beholden to the public corporation systems and having no incentive to get onto the ESG/DEI brownie points system for free money". One of the many positive side effects of being a private corporation even if the political views of it's employees lean towards left.
