Got mine in the mail earlier this week. Bought the poverty spec base model and only about 45 GB was actually usable, good thing I bought a replacement SSD. M.2 2230 drives are pretty hard to find, ended up picking up a 256 GB one for $35. 512's were about $100 and 1 TB's were around $300. The teardown was easy and the re-installation of the OS went well. I had issues with setup, but those resolved themselves when I used an ethernet dongle instead of wifi.

So I got mine in the mail recently, and I gotta say, the performance is really good. GTA IV runs really smooth on it and the only game that gave me trouble was Geometry Wars 3, and that was fixable via by ProtonGE

Apparently, there was this video that compared the Day One version of the Valve Steam Deck to the Q3 version of it to see if there were any major or minor changes to the handheld console.
Yeah I watched that while I was eagerly waiting for it. I don't know how true that is for all models though as I do not have a review sample to compare with.

I skimmed through the video, and the only point I can really make is that there was an update that messed with the fan curve, so regardless of the fan that's why it doesn't turn on as quickly.

I'm still loving mine, got it last month and I've been having a great time, the short battery life is fine since I'm never very far from a power source. I plugged it into my trailer when I went camping the other weekend and the missus and I were able to connect to my Plex server at home and watch stuff in bed, very cool

I sound like a huge fanboy (warranted!) but I admit I'm damn happy with it

Pretty promising, if true.

Considering that you can rip & play switch games on the Deck, it's pretty much a guaranteed. What's crazier though is how the Vita has yet to have a emulator as fully functional as the switch.

Speaking of the Deck, that refresh rate changer is pretty much a game changer. I love making my own adjustments while keeping the settings high.

Hello! We're excited to announce that we're going to be able to fulfill demand sooner than we had estimated for everyone in the reservation queue. Many of the supply chain shortfalls that affect Steam Deck are gradually clearing up, and we're continuing to ramp production, so we're able to produce more Decks faster than ever before.

As of today we've updated the reservation windows, and everyone who's currently in the reservation queue will get their Steam Deck email this year. Many customers who were in the "Q4 or later" window have been bumped up to "Q3 (July-September)" window. And everyone else is now solidly in the "Q4 (October-December)" window

As of this moment, new reservations will be in the Q4 bucket, but if these queues fill up it will flip over into the following quarter. To see your reservation window, visit this site while logged in.

We're happy we'll be able to get Steam Decks into your hands faster than we had estimated. It has been great to see all the positive feedback, impressions, and amazing things you all have already been doing with your Steam Decks. We can't wait to see even more in the coming months.

That's it for today, more news soon.

Damn, just came here to post this!

For those who aren't as autistic about the deck queue, let me make it clear that this means if you reserve a Steam Deck right now, you will get the order e-mail by the end of December.

For anyone who is already waiting on one, like myself, your wait just got a lot shorter. Congrats!

If you're considering reserving, it's $5 and you do not pay the full price of the Deck until yours is ready to ship. You can cancel at any point up to then. Not to shill too hard, but if you want a Steam Deck right now is objectively the best time, before the queue fills and new orders are placed in Q1 2023. I'd highly recommend anyone wanting a Deck to jump on this.

My Deck has been saying "shipping soon" since Tuesday. I don't know why but this week has been worse anticipation wise than it was having to wait a full year to just be able to order it!

*sobs in first world problems*
Tracking has been inconsistent for a lot of people from what I've heard. Hang in there, you've made it this far! Mine isn't shipping but I have an early Q3 order in that I've been waiting a fucking year for. Gonna be like Christmas day opening it up at my front door

Good news on that front. Reddit has been autisticlly tracking the queue via spreadsheets and whatnot based on the time you ordered. They really are ramping up, last Thursday the queue advanced by 10 hours, on Monday it advanced 11 hours, and today it advanced 19 hours. So we're up to sometime Sunday, three days after launch, being ordered.

I think that's part of the shipping thing too, bigger batches means more processing time. Apparently almost none of Mondays order have gone out yet. Or a whole bunch of people aren't getting their tracking emails/shipping notification. Who knows.

For what it's worth, I got mine back in early May, and the Reddit tracker thing said I was due for mid-June.

I'm not terribly surprised. Something like that is only as accurate as the data it's been given, which is not going to be anywhere near as many people ordered it.

I reserved mine two weeks ago, and it says it will still be delivered Q4.

As far as I'm aware, most of the estimators online are less likely to be accurate as they never accounted for the production ramp-ups that really started last month. The best resource for those who want to be more informed about their Steam Deck progress seems to currently be GetMyDeck . Insert your region, model, and reserve time number to see a graph of the data that's been collected and how close it is to your reserve time. It only sorts and displays data, but does not attempt to estimate anything.

The Reddit community that has cropped up around tracking the Deck's order queues has been incredibly autistic, but personally I think it's that neat brand of autism where they use it to make cool shit. I can understand why they'd be so invested, too. I haven't been excited for another piece of consumer tech hardware like I have for the Steam Deck in some time. The emulation potential is unmatched for that price. The open-ended nature of the device and ability to play PC games and do other computer shit is just the cherry on top.

Can't wait to get mine! Good luck to everyone here who has a reservation! I'm sure the wait will be worth it
